Drowning Crow Rescue - Crow? Raven? Rook? We save their life!

Crow Story - I looked outside to see a bird splashing in the water, which is normal, but this wasn't a water bird, it was a crow or a raven! Crows don't swim! I called my neighbor to rush over and we had a canoe in the water in about a minute. This poor rook had been trying really hard to take off and was just exhausted by the time we got there. We got it to shore and tried to dry him off and stop the shivering. We had it bundled in a towel and dried it off off camera, but ultimately thought the sun would be warmer on the black wooden table. We offered fresh water and a snack just in case it had any appetite. He soon perked up even more while slowly regaining strength. After about an hour and half, it gave a final shake and flew off the table. I know corvids are very smart birds. I hope this one comes back to visit some time.
While we have many crows in the area, I have not had anyone come to visit in any obvious way since then, but I am always hopeful.

Crows are extremely intelligent and can remember friendly and unfriendly faces. It will probably always recognize you, they even teach their young who their friends are 🙂

I love crows! I pulled one out of our pool when I was kid. My sister and I dried him out with her hairdryer. He flew away afterwards. The rest of the summer we found little trinkets on our deck. Little pebbles and coins on our deck. We always wondered where they came from lol

That’s a carrion crow. They are very intelligent and are generally solitary unlike rooks, and are bigger than magpies and jackdaws but smaller than ravens

Had two crows stuck in a football net this morning. Smart little buggers. (Apart from getting tangled😂.) They understand at some point that you are no enemy.

I’m sat with my crow now, he sees me several times a day. They are beautiful, intelligent and protective. I have a lot of love for corvids. I loved this rescue, thank you for capturing it so we can see there is still kindness and humanity in this world.
