Asus Zenbook S16 with AMD Zen 5 - simply the "best" notebook?

Published 2024-07-28
AMD's all-new #Zen5 mobile Strixpoint CPUs are finally here, and the Asus Zenbook S16 is the first notebook in the studio running the updated silicon.
Not only do we get completely new CPU cores and faster-integrated graphics, thanks to Team Red's RDNA 3.5 architecture, but the Zenbook is also a complete redesign.
And well, they kinda nailed it!
Please enjoy our video review, and for much more about the Asus Zenbook S16, check out our written articles as well:

This is actually quite impressive. I have the 7840hs and it does everything i like. Yet progress in efficiency is always appreciated and im glad to see that here. it will be years before i upgrade.

Great video! How does this compare to the Vivobook S16?

Do you think Rec. 2020 based displays in laptop would be possible? What's your opinion on the colors it would produce compared to DCI-P3?
  • @Godjett
What about performance on battery? Is it comparable to MacBook air?

I mentioned in Snapdragon X reviews that best wait for the new AMD and glad I did. This is easily superior to the Surface Laptop 15 that would cost more with the same spec. No competition really. Not a fan of ASUS so I may wait for rivals but this is one of the best Windows ultrabooks currently in circulation; better than Core Ultra Intel and X Elite.

Not directly relating to the video but when you do up your final score for your written reviews is it possible to include and estimate using the old scoring system that way it will allow a comparison between your old scoring system and the new one. Currently difficult to compare reviews under the old system and the new ones?

02:40 very minor creaking noises: same problem with galaxy book 3 pro and 4 pro. It's because of the bottom which is made of plastic.
  • @TheKimerus
A lot of other reviews says that the screen is touchscreen, but you're saying it's not. Can you clarify that?
  • Finally a review of a laptop with Zen 5! How does it compare with Zephyrus G16 in terms of speakers, screen wobble, and build quality?
  • @PurpleWarlock
Hope you can do videos for the Vivobook and ProArt machines.

Sheeeeit .The 23236 score In Cinebench R23 MT is nuts. I hope its not a mistake. 6:45.

Not perfect, but still looks excellent for UX/UI designers and photo editors. Also, great ports selection. Solid for video editing and 1080p gaming, but not great. Battery life was good, but not great as the hype had us believing.

Can you compare it with x elite laptops?
  • @Wha2les
How did you manage to get a white one with that chip?! Is that a Europe only thing?!
  • @antalpoti
I'm happy Strix Point is here, but also hope a 50W version will be better. CPU performance is amazing, but the iGPU is nothing special compared to a 780M. XMG sort of promised to release this chip in 2025 when SO-DIMM support arrives and seeing they allowed the CPU to stretch its legs in their new Evo models, an upgraded Evo with the 370HX running at 50W+ could be a very powerful ultrabook.

Dude, you do know that AMD has about 10% global laptop market share, correct?
