Heart release natriuretic peptides, among other things which we're still figuring out, when it senses increase in blood pressure or volume due to any reason and in turn stimulate our kidneys to produce more urine, causes generalised vasodilation and suppress aldosterone's actions. While it can save lives, it's obvious that there'll be plenty of short comings with an artificial pumping device, because it's not anywhere close to a human heart.
