  • I would like to put forward a petition—for him to do an entire episode talking like a stereotypical pirate. 😂❤

I clicked on this video at break neck speed.

My 8 times Great Grandfather Archibald Cameron of Lochiel was hanged and then beheaded at Tyburn in 1753 for his part in the Jacobite uprising. Thanks for an interesting video!

Kevin is a Master Historian and his storytelling is superior! Hello from California, USA.😊
  • as a 17 year old, your videos actually made me enjoy learning about history again. I've always loved history and am able to memorize stuff pretty easily, thankfully lol, but highschool has drained my love for it. These videos keep me constantly actually learning things about our great ancestors, and the way that you are able to speak your words and flow the information into the watchers' head is pretty amazing. From the tiny state of New Hampshire, cheers Mr. Hicks:)

I was an American Civil War reenactor for almost 15 years here in Southern New York. Kevin's films have renewed in me an incredible interest in England's history, especially the medieval period. ❤

Mr. Hicks is a superb storyteller covering a very dark, yet fascinating period of English history. I was hanging on every word.

Yes please, more long format videos; I can listen to Kevin all day! Thanks to the whole crew for taking the time to put these together. <3
  • Where I grew up here in Sweden there’s this playground with a huge oak tree in the middle of it. We’d call the spot “The Frog” because the main attraction if you will was one of those ridable animals with a spring shaped like a frog. When I grew older I learned that the oak was used to hang people back in the day. From executioner’s grounds to playground. Quite the difference some hundred odd years make!

Man. That last story about the 15 year old boy genuinely brought a tear to my eye. Its heart breaking because its an absolutely, brutally true story. Just goes to show how bad it was back then.

Kevin Hicks, you truly excel as a storyteller. Your presentation of the facts was not only meticulous but also profoundly engaging, guiding us through a spectrum of emotions—from amusement to sorrow to indignation. The caliber of your narrative skill is reminiscent of the legendary David Attenborough—a comparison I do not make lightly. Your exploration of the Tyburn Gallows doesn’t just recount history; it invites deep philosophical contemplation, prompting us to question the very essence of freedom and liberation. Your narrative prowess transforms a morbid chapter of history into a compelling journey of reflection and understanding. Such is the charm of your storytelling that I could listen to you all day long. You are amazing!
  • absolutely sterling content as usual. you add such a human element to your subject matter

Mr. Hicks, your videos are amazing. You are a wonderful raconteur as folks from my part of the woods would say. (South Carolina). When most people use YouTube for useless videos of people doing bizarre dances and crazy stunts your channel is genuinely entertaining and educational. My brother in law is a middle school social studies/history teacher near Charleston and ever since I sent him a few of your videos he tells me he has been showing them to his classes ever chance he gets. And from what he tells me the young ones absolutely love your videos and have even came into class with recommendations to him from videos of yours they have watched at home. Your a real deal English gentleman and all of us young and old thank you for the history lessons. I wish you nothing but the best and I just wanted you to know how much Mr. Sutton's social studies class and myself enjoy all of your content. God bless you sir. 👍👍

I think Kevin took my comment last time too seriously. I said Kevin could recite entire lines from memory without rehearsal and do this video without any breaks - a testament to supreme human memory and intelligence. Normally such superhumans have a very high forehead to store a very large brain. But today Kevin is humble and covered his high forehead up to not intimidate people. That earns respect 👍
  • @kenijonesESQ
Such a brutal time to be alive. Cheers Kevin, great episode.

Why isn't Kevin presenting history documentaries on terrestrial TV like the BBC or Discovery? He makes history come to life. Another 5-star presentation Kevin. I was just realising the actual swinging time it might have taken before death. Made me shiver, HORRIFYING! 😵‍💫
  • @IHWKR
Sir, you deserve to be on the history channel in the USA and bring the channel back to its former glory.
  • @fartingforkeeps
As a lifelong lover of history, I truly appreciate all your hard work making this content. In a world where history is revised and used as a political tool, it's refreshing to see somebody who is dedicated to presenting history in a factual, educational way. History is such a broad topic and is usually presented on a grand scale that makes past events seem disconnected from us living in the present. I love the way you present it in such a personal, human manner.

Gotta save this for tonight for sleep. Need that sweet sweet british grandpa voice to soothe me to sleep. Thanks, from a cousin across the pond!
