Copenhagen's historic Stock Exchange building on fire | VOA News

▶ A fire raged through one of Copenhagen’s oldest buildings on Tuesday, causing the collapse of the iconic spire from the 17th-century Old Stock Exchange as passersby rushed to help emergency services save priceless paintings and other valuables.

👉 Danish Culture Minister Jakob Engel-Schmidt said it was “touching” to see how many people lent their hand “to save art treasures and iconic images from the burning building.” One man jumped off his bicycle on his way to work to help in the effort.

The fire began Tuesday morning in the copper roof of the Old Stock Exchange, or Boersen, spread to much of the building and the roof, parts of which also collapsed, and destroyed the building's interior, a firefighters spokesman said.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known. (AP)

The building was under renovation, so strong odds it's related to that. Renovation fires are unfortunately common (among many factors, there's often hot modern equipment around very flammable old materials), that's what got Notre Dame almost exactly 5 years ago.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justifiable_homicide Article 2 Paragraph 2 of the European Convention On Human Rights provides that that death resulted from defending oneself or others, arresting a suspect or fugitive, or suppressing riots or insurrections, will not contravene the Article when the use of force involved is "no more than absolutely necessary": 2. Deprivation of life shall not be regarded as inflicted in contravention of this Article when it results from the use of force which is no more than absolutely necessary: (a) in defence of any person from unlawful violence; (b) in order to effect a lawful arrest or to prevent the escape of a person lawfully detained; (c) in action lawfully taken for the purpose of quelling a riot or insurrection. In South Africa, §49 Criminal Procedure Act used to provide: you understood why this happened. i don't want this to escalate further. you made 50% in europe and canada, and 45% went to your partner who was dealt with. total was 200 million upfront, and 1.8 billion potentially if everything went smoothly and there were no victims that complained. you knew the risks. i don't want involvement joachim.
