I thought it was pretty logical. You need a chain of command like the mafia to stop the crime from being tracked back to the top. Gunray, to Dooku, to Jango, to Zam. To quote Saul Goodman: "I know a guy, who knows a guy, who knows a guy".
  • If I'm being honest, I have no idea why this confused so many people and why everyone thought it was bad writing. Gunray told Dooku to find a way to kill Padme or else he won't join his cause, he didn't hire Dooku to personally do it. An assassination chain is a trope used in several detective stories like James Bond for instance. Dooku hired Jango to take Padme out because of his status as a great bounty hunter, and Jango wanted to work with Zam in order for them to split the pay and Jango doesn't get any blood on his hands. This helps Dooku too because it's harder to trace back to the source through the assassination chain. Zam doesn't want to get traced either so their first plan is to simply blow the ship up which Padme is in through a hidden bomb. Their second plan is to use poisonness worms to secretly assassinate Padme without security knowing, which would've worked if there were no Jedi. Jango didn't plan for Jedi being there, so they didn't prepare to have a droid with a secret blaster mechanism there. The droid was still there in order to watch the bugs complete their task, and as soon as it saw a Jedi heading for it, it headed straight back to Zam for her to deal with. It's a mystery as to why Zam didn't shoot Obi Wan first off the droid then hit the droid, but Zam hitting the droid first was questionable to me, because wouldn't you rather want an injured Jedi first? Jango went after Zam first because Padme's surrounded with security by now and Jango would'nt be able to easily get to her without being traced, and because Zam was about to reveal everything. This requires inference but we can infer that Jango used a Kamino saber dart because it's more reliable and quicker to shoot, and is less traceable than normal blaser shots which probably can easily be traced to specific weapon.
  • I saw it as jango hiring Zam out to avoid him being caught directly which could compromise the conspiracy against the Jedi and bring on distrust of the GAR when they’re revealed to be clones of him. Unfortunately the dots get connected anyway and the plan fails but 🤷‍♂️
  • Your analysis is much better than that of Cosmonaut Variety Hour.
