Sometimes you cook the rice, other times the rice cooks you
  • In 77 my brother got a chess set for Christmas. I learned from him destroyed everyone in my class. Went to a tournament Tri State tournament in Southern Indiana and got 3rd in 1984.
  • I've been following since the first video of the series and I love your Channel. I watched the rest, from Eric to the other dude whom I think is Russian that taught me the London system. None of them are as illustrative as you are, since I found your channel I stopped watching theirs. I watch yours religiously. I have some notes for you though; if you fix these things you'd literally be perfect for me at least. 1. Don't blame things when you lose. We understand (except that time you blamed your daughter, that was fair she did disturb you) 2. When you analyse the game and you didn't do as well as you'd have liked, don't blitz through the analysis and say things like Stockfish is confused when you missed a great move. Explore those moves suggested by stockfish for both your benefit and ours. 3. When you suspect someone is cheating, don't start making remarks like it's already proven. I hate the rice cooker reference. I'm sure that opponent and his professor hate it too if they watch your series. You don't have proof so keep your comments "neutral" and not offend players. Either than that you're Awesome man.

In the first game vs drphenomenale 8.Qh5 wasn't the top engine move but it is the best scoring move by some margin vs 2000 players in rapid on Lichess.

I'd never heard of chess until I was six when my dad was going to play my uncle. I wasn't allowed in the room during the game, but I knew checkers and just seeing the opening position, I was completely hooked already! I thought this had to be the ultimate board game, and I still think it is. WOW! Look at all the different pieces, and they're using the white squares as well as the black, unlike checkers!! I pestered my dad to teach me the game, but he said: When you're seven! Well, I didn't stop pestering him, and around Christmas he taught me. But I didn't get better than him until I was twelve. And after that sadly he never wanted to play again.

  • @capkarr
I love this show! I’ve learned a lot! My ranking was only 1800 but now with these new strategies, I am even better!
  • @larbidorbane9522
Je trouve ça très pédagogiques et vous expliquer bien vos coups et les plans stratégiques derrières
  • You are a wise player i like to watch your games this what i miss this little things you do really well for keep my rating over 2000.Thank you for your great analyse!
  • @yairdvora871
Don’t feel bad about blundering your queen twice. That shows me that it can also happen to any player (like me)
  • @executor9550
You shouldn't complain about players taking their time especially since I have seen you many times hold up another player because you want to talk in detail about your move, especially against lower rated players.
  • Why are some videos missing in this list? I watched 2000 and the next is 2050. There were also some missing in the past
  • @arikgershon
20:36 You could’ve taken the pawn on c6. If black plays Rc8, you have a fork
  • @danielyuan9862
40:38 I saw the tactic and literally screamed (more like made weird noises), when you made that move. I felt like the "stockfish move" was foreshadowing that you were going to miss a tactic, because that's often what happens when playing against stockfish.

I have really enjoyed your videos Nelson, I have learned a lot from you and you do a great job explaining your thought process with each move. I just wish when you do occasionally lose a game that you do so with grace and not just assume they must have been cheating when it happens. I also find it ironic when you get impatient that an opponent takes their time between moves when you do exactly the same thing when you go through your thought process. I fear these people you play, when they win and are accused of shenanigans with no real proof, they face the backlash of your viewers.
  • @kingsolo6241
I was dead at the 31:09 mark when he gave you the rook. That was hilarious for some reason
  • @31-December
I’ve watched every game up to 2000 and now I only watch the games that were lost as they are entertaining, especially the comments and reactions🤣😂
  • @shadowof1155
Literally just won a game I played, been on a bad losing streak recently but by the grace of the chess gods my knight sac to get checkmate got a brilliant move ❤ honestly with as little as I play chess, watching your videos helps me keep a drawer of fresh ideas for 700-800 elo games

Hey nelson keep up the good vibes. I'm also a competitive player so I totally understand that we cannot control ourself from being tilted. But please stop accusing someone of cheating just because you lost because you also blundered and that happens to a lot of us even GMs blunders as well. If the opponent really cheated, then that's his loss because he is only fooling himself. I want to see your channel grow and healthy so please take this as a good feedback. To other viewers here, please understand that Nelson is also human and gets frustrated like most of us here so please dont stop supporting him. Dont get disappointed easily just because the guy got tilted. Play sharp, Stay Smart and Take Care🎉🎉❤❤
