If you want to mix cameras of different brands then you want an NVR and cameras that use RTSP/Onvif. There has been a method for hacking Wyze cameras to make them RTSP-able, but it's not completely reliable. Sonoff is now making a camera similar to the Wyze PTZ, but Sonoff decided to make RTSP a standard part of their camera firmware/app!

  • Dr ZZs your are better than any manual written, I have done seamless install of the camera and waiting for an update on the pan and tilt. First camera is at the front door and don't need the feature there but one at the back of the house will. Great Job.

Great video, nice product. Wonderfull to see that you're taking care of all this to make our life easier ! Thnxs for sharing !

Nice DrZzs. thanks for the review. before this i still wonder why would I need to used RTSP. Now at least I start to understand. Oh before forgot Happy New Year to you..
  • I found the Wyze RTSP OEM firmware to be simple to deploy and worked quickly and easily on each of the 5 cams I have running it. No issues at all installing it. The other thing I would point out is that the up/down range of motion of the Sonoff cam seems to be limited in the downward pan, which looks to be limited to 90 degrees. Please correct me if I am wrong Doc, since it wasn't evident in the video. Another great video and as always, great laughs too. Thanks for your continued support of the community.

If you can access a web interface, you might be able to wireshark the commands its doing for ptz.

FYI @DrZzs , The Wyze RTSP firmware isn't beta (or a hack), and it is still supported (they recently applied an update). They just aren't able to add any more new features (i.e. AI Person Detection, or the new CMC cloud recording) due to the size limitations. Also, the Wyze Cam Pan is only $29.99, not $35 as stated in the video.

Does the camera offer saving to a network/smb share as well as local storage? Can you also take a look at the nightvision across a room to see how good it actually is?
  • @Mrcaffinebean
I did the sound pairing thing for the first time the other day with another app. It was cool!
  • @YKSGuy
The setup process looks like other generic DAHUA cameras based on the audio setup process etc. You may want to try DAHUA as the setting for PanTilt commands if there is one.
  • Awesome! So, DrZz, since you have since done an updated wyze cam vid and. - using TestFlight get rtsp a little better - what is your camera of choice now? Still this sonoff, or back to wyze?
  • @mbunds
How on earth is it possible to include these features at this price-point? Seriously? That’s a tremendous amount of combined technology for the money, and the build quality seems better than expected. I’ve had great luck with Sonoff products so far.
  • Great video, good to know, I have two in the mail, I'm going to try to attach them to my QNAP NAS Survaillance Station :-)
  • @ronm6585
Thanks doc. Good review and the cam looks pretty good.
  • @bepstein111
Is there a reason you can't just bring the RSTP feed into home assistant? I've done that with my Wyze Cam, haven't really ran into any issues.

@Dr.Zzs, thanks for a great review! Tell me, how does it integrate with other Sonoff devices, since the description on Banggood mentions "Can bind with SONOFF smart plugs / switches to view monitoring images". Secondly, does it work with Google Home / ChromeCast / Alexa? I would love to be able to ask my Google ChromeCast to fetch the video feed from my Sonoff IP cam and project it to my TV! Too ambitious?!!
  • @frogeye22
Nice video, I liked the editing effects too.
  • @phorce1
You've just picked up another subscriber because your channel looks quite interesting BUT -- I would like to know if the RTSP continued to work after the app on the phone was shut down? If not, it sounds a bit useless unless you plan to leave a spare phone on charge at the house just to run the app for one of your cameras.
  • @Shaker1978
Thanks for the review! My questions would be: Does it offer HTTPS? And has Sonoff already replied regarding the command URLs for pan/tilt etc. ? Does the camera offer a web interface? How do you configure e.g. motion detection. It would be really important to know if it's working without the app after the initial setup. And can it upload to SMB or FTP itself on motion detection?
  • Does the Camera have to be working on the app, in order for it to work in blue iris? Thanks. Subbed.
