Wondering how to study the Bible, but unsure of where to begin? Reading the Bible doesn't have to be complicated or difficult. In fact, God has given us his Holy Spirit to help us understand what He is saying to us through Scripture! Even if you are just starting out, you can dive into the Bible and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you. In this video, I give you a sample of how I personally study the Bible, and give you practical tools you can implement in your own study of Scripture in order to get more out of it! You don't have to study Scripture exactly as I do—the important thing is that you dive into it and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you along the way!

  • When I start missing days and getting upset because I missed a day, it's usually a sign that I'm doing my study just for the sake of doing it. It's a wake up call to remember why I'm studying and reading. Praise God that He gives us freedom to grow and learn at our own pace!
  • Love the analogy of going back and catching up with meals! One thing i have noticed in my studies, is that when i get into a rhythm of reading in the morning, it sets my day up for blessing and fruit, but if i miss my morning reading time with God, my whole day feels off. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day for me, physically and spiritually.

I pray b4, read slow, stop, ask Holy Spirit, sit and mediate on it then read more, repeat
  • It’s not quantity….it’s quality. I’m so thankful I came across this teaching. Thank You Lord & thank you Pastor John
  • I’m only 3 mins in and this has been a huge blessing to me! Thank you so much sir! I just found your channel and I can’t express how much I’ve struggled with reading the Bible and I’m literally in tears because I’ve been punishing myself. Bible study isn’t about reading the Bible as a chore it’s about spending time with Jesus and building your relationship with him. I know I should have already known this, but I truly didn’t. I’ve been born again for many years, but I still struggled to read the Bible. I would rather watch or listen to someone read it or teach it to me. I’ve been praying a lot about this lately and I think God sent me here as part of his answer to my prayers! I am still in awe of God’s mercy, and grace! Thank you again!

I am extremely particular about books in general, but especially my Bibles. I have books that I have bought, read through multiple times, and they still look brand new (front cover still lays flat) .... so it took me a loooong time before I ever dreamed of writing in a Bible. With that said, I do not regret it. When I'm feeling down, just as an example, I'll grab that Bible in particular and just go through the Psalms, reading all the verses I have circled, emphasized, written next to, etc. It's so helpful. BUT I have come to discover that when it's time for me to sit down and have my alone time with Jesus in His Word, I need to have a Bible that is NOT marked up. Why? Because when I've tried to read through the one with notes and emphasis added, I either A) become distracted, or B) I fixate on the OLD notes when perhaps He is going to reveal something NEW. So I'll read and reread slowly... sometimes I'll write in a notepad what stands out, and then later can transfer to my marked-up Bible, which then helps reinforce what God taught me. This system has worked well for me.
  • Quality over quantity and don't worry about missing a day. Great advice!

I’m a man in my middle 70s I started reading the Bible on my iPad because I find it so much easier to read because it’s hard for me to see small print. I still have the same Bible I had back in the early 80s that Bible will be with me until the day I die.

  • I love to read and study from the NLT Bible as well; and just like you, I also mark up my Bible. I love to read the Bible, I really love it.
  • I was struggling to read my bible. Sometimes, I felt guilty because I didn't read more chapters. And sometimes I felt anxious for some days I don't read anything. Thank you Sir, after seeing your video I felt inspired and motivated to read my bible. And I am starting now😮😊

This is the best hands-on-tutorial I've come across that best works for me. Thank you sir and God Bless you exceedingly!💯
  • Good word! Trying to read the Bible in 1 year is like traveling through a state on an interstate... you get through it but you haven't really stopped and gotten to know the state. From one marker of the scriptures to another, I found what I've marked can help me share with others as time goes by. Thanks for a good video.
  • This was a gift from God to me! Thank you so much for making this video.
