Yeah... so the last slowmo shot is absolutely ridiculous. I discuss theories on the second channel, but no idea how that happened.

Bullet straight up kidnapped the match. Loved this. Full circle classic YouTube vid. Two people having fun committed to making something cool happen. ❤

From a European view shooting a bullet at a match to light it is one of the most American things I can imagine
  • @StuffMadeHere
All I can think for match lighting match: LEEEEEERREROOOOOY JEEENKINNNNNSSSS
  • @integza
I never knew I wanted to watch a match being shot by a match so much
  • I cheered way too loud in my hotel room alone as I saw that match hitching a ride! My goodness! That was fun!
  • “A bullet carrying a match, striking a match” - Destin takes science to a whole new level. 😂

I LOVE that the final run looks like the bullet is carrying the torch! Also, your final words for this episode was really lovely, and totally reminded me of how my buddies and I get together for as much of the mundane as we do the zany, and I think that's a wonderful message. You bring so much positivity and fun to the minutes we share, and I'm thankful for it!
  • @WaterjetChannel
Last week we tried lighting a match with our waterjet to no avail... maybe we just needed to be more precise. We were definitely not using 10ths of a milimeter lol. Also that match flying with the bullet was hilarious

Lol, I remember your first video about this. I think it was the entire REASON you wanted to get a HS camera in the first place.

When I was in boy scouts in the 90s, for summer camp we send a couple scouts to the camp quartermaster and buy a box of strike anywhere matches for the troop and use that for starting campfires and lanterns for the week. We were taught how to start fires without matches of course, but day to day we didn't use those. I remember when it was my turn, the person I was with got to carry them back but he tripped and dropped the full, unopened box. It immediately burst into flames. Ever since then I've never questioned why people wanted them banned. The reactions to the hitchiking match here were just too wonderful. I had to look at it a while to convince myself it wasn't a clever edit gag so I can't imagine how it felt in person.

"you know its getting real when you add a new column to your spreadsheet" I felt that
  • @Dornul
I'm amazed that that last match got stuck in the hollow of the bullet with just that little splinter.
  • Sixty years ago, my grandfather walked me out to the machine shed on the family farm. He gave me a box of .22 shells and a single-shot rifle. He went down and put a strike anywhere match (farmer match) in a crack in the wood. He walked back about 30 feet, took one shot, and lit the match. He said to me, David, stay here and keep shooting till you can light that match, and at about 75ish, I finally lit the match and then lit more multiple times after that. It’s not new. We’ve been doing it for a long time. I enjoy your channel! Thank you for all your hard work!

aww, thanks for the mention about hanging out with you in the garage. i miss a lot of your videos nowadays, but you and about a half-dozen other youtube staples of mine have been like a virtual big sibling motivating and inspiring me over the years to pursue knowledge and for that i thank you.

A 20 minute smarter ever day video drops as I look for something to watch during my lunch break.
  • @1pho3nixmatt
As you said at the end, we don't know each other. But thank you, Destin, for goofing off in the garage (and everywhere else), but more importantly, for sharing it with the world. I, for one, appreciate you and your craft. Been watching for many years, and still proudly wear my backwards bicycle shirt, and carry my carabiner with your logo, though it has completely rubbed off, I know it was there. In short, thanks dude.
