So yeah, the simulator feedback is "alarming", and the car is having to be driven in such a conservative way, that they end up "slower than the current Formula 2 machinery." Damn.

Can confirm, my F1 Manager 23 career mode introduced new aero regs for 2026 that caused all parts to lose 55% performance.
  • @AJ-zy9jf
Prema just added a team to Indycar. These are the type of moves I like seeing versus F1 denying access to new teams and now making cars slower.
  • @MrRono19
They want to attract new manufacturers and teams but then they reject new teams that apply.

Ah yes the GP2 engine is coming to GP1, while GP2 have the current GP1 engine! Interesting.... :_Ricciardo::_Bottas::_Sainz::_TomMinton::_DrunkKimi::_Toto::_Porpo:

The problem is F1 has to make up for all the emissions Williams is putting out by air freighting chassis back to England each week.
  • @sandstorm17
"slower than F2" they say, before Newey finds a loophole and makes the car 20 seconds faster than the RB20
  • @lorddeer8631
I don't think we need to be making the cars as fast as possible, BUT if we are going to call Formula 1 "the pinnacle of motorsport" surely it makes sense to have them faster than any other category? I understand reducing costs and attracting new manufacturers but it was never going to be a cheap sport.

Looking back it's clear that if we just stayed with the 2021 regs we'd have RedBull, Ferrari, Mercedes and McLaren AT LEAST all competing at the front of the grid. The racing in 2021 was good up and down the grid, we had great convergence developing at the front and none of the ridiculous problems with the ground effect and 2026 rule sets
  • @DonLee1980
It's not 50/50. It is a maximum of 50/50, but most of the time, it's only the ICE that's running because the electric boost will run out very quickly. The electric motors will be activated for the first 2-3 seconds of the straight and then allow the 550hp Ice engine carry the speed. Wait, haven't we've seen that before in the 2015 LMPh1 cars?
  • @QwoaX
Alonso: GP2 car, GP2! Engineer: Thank you very much!
  • Thing is we said this about the last regs that they’d be 3-4secs slower then all of a sudden F1 teams create beasts as quick as the last regs

My friend is working at Mercedes and told me this at least 10 months ago. Theyve wildly fucked up the de-rate by removing elements of the PU. The addition of Active Aero is a knee-jerk reaction to the insane amount of drag these cars have been found to produce. The rear wing is set to act like a parachute, so coupled with a huge battery depletion at the end of straights, the cars are effectively rubber banding backwards as if they're being artificially slowed

Once again we are moving in the wrong direction
