I’ve been on an Ocarina of Time kick recently, and it’s a great game to go back to if you crave the original Zelda formula after two huge open-world Zelda games with Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. However, you might be surprised to hear there are plenty of Ocarina of Time references to be found within Tears of the Kingdom, you just have to go looking under the surface for them. Today I want to highlight these references to Ocarina of Time, so you can seek them out and enjoy them yourself.

If you were to speak to Cece after "The Mayoral Election" Side Adventure while wearing the Evil Spirit Armour set, Cece will comment that you looked like you jumped out of a painting. This is a reference to the Phantom Ganon battle in Oot, where where he flies through paintings to attack you.
  • The amount of references and easter eggs in this game is amazing. And not just from OoT. Such a great and nostalgic trip down memory lane whilst playing this latest adventure. My favourite ones are the tunics from previous game though. Ocarina of time is by far the most played game from the collection. I never forget the first time I ever played it back in the late 90's, skipping school and sleep sucked into the game. 😄

In the scene when Ganondorf is kneeling to Rauru, there are a few Gerudo women behind him. People have translated the writing on their shoulders. In Gerudo one is written Koume the other is written Kotake. Yep his surrogate mothers are here with him as an Easter egg. Love oot and your channel. Keep it up.

In kakorico village there is a well you can jump into. You’ll find blood and bones everywhere. This is a reference to the shadow temple well for OoT. Later, if you go through the entire well, you’ll also find a notebook of one of Impa’s gaurd’s wife. She died from the bogs clan attack. If you assent of from the notebook, you’ll be greeted by a silent princess on a hill.

Am i the only one that saw that the hats of the gorons in totk have the logo of the spiritual stone of fire from Ocarina of time?

This is my opinion but i do believe that link in ocarina of time and botw link are the same person because i think that its a retelling of ocarina of time because there are so many similarities between the two games like the floating Castle, phantom ganon, time travel, that why i think rauru is different, and it also like relationships in both games like mipha loving link, to ruto loving link and the relationship between link and the gorons in both ocarina of time and botw. But maybe i am just saying this because i want the hero of time to have more games because i feel like he is the only link that is the most important to the zelda universe.

I did feel like most references came from The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, when I played the game, Epona is still in the game, by amiibo which I like. I'm wondering if the next Zelda game, won't have the ability to go straight to the final enemy in the game, because in the game before it, it hints you can fight Calamity Ganon, very strongly when leaving the Great Plateau, while in the sequel it doesn't hint as strongly, about fighting Ganondorf now.

Also when wearing the time set when you first find the great deku tree he says children of the forest are welcome here or something

That Zelda turn is a good one to point out. I didn’t notice.

I've been thinking about this for a few days but, do you think the jewelry on OoT Ganondorf's head could technically be a secret stone? My other thought was that it's just a topaz headband as he appears to have multiple of this jewel on his armor. That being said where Totk Ganondorf places his stone leads me to believe that perhaps the secret stone passed down by Riju eventually gets corrupted.
