Internal Medicine is a really tough specialty and it can take a lot to match! In this video, I break it all down! Thank you to PicMonic for sponsoring this video!

However, not everyone who applies to internal medicine residency gets in. There are a number of factors that are considered by residency programs when making their decisions, including:

- USMLE scores: USMLE scores are still important factors in the residency application process, but they are not the only factors that programs consider.
- Letters of recommendation: Letters of recommendation can provide programs with valuable insights into an applicant's character, work ethic, and potential.
- Personal statement: The personal statement is an opportunity for applicants to share their story and explain why they are interested in internal medicine residency.
- Residency interviews: Residency interviews are the most important part of the application process for many programs. Interviews give programs a chance to meet applicants and assess their fit for the program.

On residency program I interviewed at, who shall remain anonymous had very much out in the open security cameras in the area of the residency office where the secretary sat. All of these cameras were recording you at all times. If, for any reason you were mean or rude to the secretaries or staff the program would send you out an automatic rejection letter. I was told by one of the residents that it was amazing how many people they could weed out simply because there were so many rude applicants.
