My name is Jacob Miller, and I’m from Indiana. Thank you for sharing Jacobs amazing story. I’ve been learning more about the Civil War, since I’ve been working in Gettysburg the past week, and I was shocked to find a Civil War era soldier from Indiana with the same name. My family has made me proud of my name, and now a Civil War veteran has inspired me to carry on the courage That Jacob showed After he was wounded. Thank you again.
  • Very informative! I had no idea of the hard biscuits these guys had to eat. Amazing that Jacob lived to age 88 after such a tragic wound! He was blessed. Such an awful war. I enjoy Civil War history. Thank you !
  • it's funny that I came across this video because I've heard in my family that I'm actually related to Civil War Pvt. Thomas E. Williams somewhere down the line being my family is all over the United States just about but from what I've heard is that my family was from the great plains native American tribes who then spread to Kentucky in the very late 1700s and then part of the family moved to Mooresville indiana where later on Thomas would be born and on 8/7/1862 he was mustered in to "E" Co. 12th Indiana Infantry and enlisted as a Private in the Civil War and was mustered out on 6/8/1865 in Washington DC after that nothing else is known about him nothing about his early childhood or later and finals years until he passed away other than the fact that he married Amanda J. Williams his wife who is buried beside him and as far as I could find there's only one picture of what he looked like and in it he's wearing his Union Soldier uniform
