Do I see a balast box designed by GWT in the future? I'm sure you could come up with a multifunction balast box design. Maybe a slot for a chainsaw for when folks are using a grapple in the woods.

I like your balance aproach to fairness and not brand specific

If you put some pipe insulation in the vertical pipes, it'll reduce tools bouncing around.

Bought the Titan ballast box via your link and based on your suggestion. I like that its quick hitch compatible (the Kubota ones are not based on my understanding) and the cost is about half of the others. I admire your passion to never be content with existing designs though and wish you the best with that.

You had me nervous for a minute because I literally just received the "Titan Style" box today. I found it with free shipping for $232.99 ordered on last Friday. The only difference is mine is powder coated red.

Good thorough review. Always appreciate the honest opinions.

Also, with a solid cover, the John Deere ballast box also makes a good seat in the corner of the tractor barn, FYI :)
  • @MrMarkCrisler
Great vid! If you create a better ballast box, you got an order right here. I’ve heard off just because the choices are so minimal and not versatile. Pretty much use a carry all loaded with pavers. Would love a more compact & versatile solution. Keep up the great work!

Got a Titan right after buying my 1025r. All your points plus over $100 less sold me on it. Only 'issue' was one of the pins was bent slightly from shipping. Hasn't affected using it though. Filled mine with sand so it would be easier to empty if needed. Figured since I've Pat's hitch, the extra extension would offset the slightly less weight. Ditto the remark about putting pipe insulation in the tool holder holes.

Good job with the comparison Sir. I currently have a BH as ballast. But I am considering Titans BB & the Speeco e-hitch. But I may wait to see what your concept is for the BB. Thanks for the info Sir

I use four Oliver center wheel weights bolted together, works great can add more if needed.

I purchased my tractor with the JD ballast box and extension. I have been tempted to dump it out and put 2 pvc tubes in for my rake and pitch fork. I do like the features in your box. The biggest problem I have with my box is ground clearance and this is on my 2025R. I also have forgotten to lift the bucket until I tried to move. Now the rest of the story. I spent the money and bought the double Heavy Hitch weight bracket and cart. I am very happy with this set up. I already had plenty of weights.
  • @skipper99991
Looking forward to your version. Maybe you can allow for a spot to add a vice.
  • @MBGAdventures
Video is very helpful. I want a ballast box that has a hitch receiver too. You are right with Deere, the suit case weights are and will get expensive as you add them on. Great video!
  • @jonfrauen3779
I just noticed this but I like the new "Good Works Tractors" logo!
  • @Ron-ds2ob
I took a 30 gallon plastic barrel, cut holes and ran a draw bar through it. Then I stuck a 2" receiver out the back. Inside the barrel, I mocked this all together, with a top link connection out the top. Once I tested it and lifting it didn't bind on the top link, I welded everything together inside the barrel. I threw some old dumbell weights, and scrap steel in the bottom and filled it with cement. Total weight is about 400 pounds, which coupled with my loaded tires, is fine for my Kubota BX2680. The nice thing about it is it doesn't stick out the back very far, so it's less likely, to swing into things. With my Pat's quick hitch ends, hookup is a breeze.
  • @JB-70
I have the Titan box for my JD 5200 and I really like it. Thinking of ways to add more accessories to make it even more useful. Curious to see what ideas you come up with.
  • @FloridaDeere
Great Video, I agree, the Titan is the way to go. Their customer service is friendly and responsive as well.
