For me and my friend group, if someone asked something like David did, I would try to figure out a place everyone, including that friend, where we'd all be down to go together. It's not about being together 24/7 but more of being together at a place everyone would enjoy. And if someone still wants to go without us BUT still meet up later, I'm all for it! At least they communicated that to us and I respect and appreciate that.

Nope. That’s how our friends and us have the best trips together, we make sure to schedule a couple activities and meals as a group but we always are free to come and go and do our own things. We’re all adults that enjoy each others company but we also know ourselves and need space and time away as couples or solo. It’s best to be able to retreat and recharge social batteries.
