In less than a month, the Edmondson Village community will lose its only supermarket, Giant.

The loss will have a direct impact on many of the people in the area whose only form of transportation is walking.

"There's a lot of people that come here that are not familiar with any other place. So, we're [going to] have to figure something else out," says Steve who lives in Edmondson Village.

Giant will only close stores that are unprofitable and have constant breakins from a bad neighborhood.

Baltimore Development Corporation: Here's free money. Giant: No thanks.

There are a lot of people who are related to the people who are being disorderly. Those people who are related are not checking those who are acting up. Therefore everyone has to suffer because that behavior is being allowed to continue. Plain and simple.

hmmmm... and no mention of shoplifting...

lol lol, this is funny? The people robbed this store out of business. Only a crazy person would open any store in this area?

Giant is rolling out, what makes folk think another market is setting up down the road, closer to the shenanigans???

Why is it closings? Is it because of shoplifting, crime and/or drugs, or is just not profitable because of the income of the residents in the area. There was a Neighborhood Walmart built in a low income area of St. Petersburg Florida a couple of years ago. It shutdown because they were throwing away large amounts of fresh produce daily, shoplifting, loitering in the parking lot, the homeless would stand around the entrance asking for money, people would walk up to asking for money while loading groceries in your car. Other businesses were planned to occupy the other storefronts but that fell through when Walmart left. I’m Just wondering

Yea, that kinda happens. Karma. Funny how that works. Fyi, the businesses aren't responsible for feeding you. They can pack up and leave anytime.

Everytime a supermarket closes in a high-crime area, an angel gets his wings!

That dont mean go steal everything else left inside the store.. cause its closing down
  • They’re gonna have to take the bus to a different part of town to steal food now.
  • @CEOkiller
Maybe you should have stopped stealing from it….
  • @dpharr100
Does theft have anything to do with the store closing?
  • @barb7124
Garbage neighborhood with theft, and an open drug market right in the parking lot.
  • @richard7479
Maybe stop the “teens” from stealing from these stores and they’ll stick around!
