Do you lack confidence when you stand up to speak in public?
0:00 Here are the 7 tips to help you speak more confidently in front of an audience:
Tip #1: 1:10 Speak Every Time
If you speak on stage enough times, those experiences start to outweigh the anxiety, the nervousness, and the stage fright…allowing you to become more confident on stage.
Tip #2: 2:59 Practice and Prepare
Prepare your speech way ahead of time. Practice it in the mirror, and then practice again. This makes you more comfortable and confident when you get on stage.
Tip #3: 4:03 Positive Self-Talk
Take the conversation in your mind about speaking in public and shift it from worrisome or negative to positive and empowering.
Tip #4: 5:46 What’s Worked In The Past
Remember what’s worked for you on stage in the past and repeat it. This will increase your confidence because you can be sure that what you're doing will likely work again.
Tip #5: 6:55 Record Yourself.
Recording yourself on stage gives you a chance to see yourself through the eyes of the audience… to see how awesome you really are and the areas you need to improve on. In turn, this makes you a more confident public speaker.
Tip #6: 8:18 Visualize.
Visualization improves your confidence a hundredfold. Your brain can’t tell the difference between real and imagined scenarios. So if you visualize yourself on stage 100 times, in a way, you actually ARE on stage 100 times.
Tip #7: 10:45 See Yourself As Others See You
We usually exaggerate our own mistakes in our minds. Instead, see yourself through the eyes of the audience. Mistakes make you human and help your audience connect and relate to your message.
Whichever of these 7 PROVEN tips you choose to implement, I hope you apply them to become more confident as a public speaker and see positive results on your journey to becoming that awesome speaker.
