As a couple of inexperienced DIY enthusiasts taking on the renovation of an old stone house, it was inevitable that at some point we'd make a mistake! Well, that point came this week! 😁

It might be an expensive blunder but we have to learn from it & persevere with the tiny house restoration as there's a seemingly endless list of construction tasks awaiting us. This week we're tackling the OSB roof decking & desperately trying to get it completed so that the cottage has a roof on before the forecasted torrential rain arrives!

LIKE THIS VIDEO if you enjoyed it & SUBSCRIBE to follow our journey as we document our life here in Central Portugal & the many DIY projects that we'll be tackling including renovating a tiny stone cottage, setting up systems to grow some of our own food & finally restoring the 100+ year old farm house.

Also say hi in the comments! We'd love to hear from you 😊

We're Ricky & Victoria 👋 We're slowly bringing an abandoned off grid Portuguese farm back to life & transforming it into a beautiful homestead for us & our two rescue dogs Teddy & Poppy.

We both agree that we’re not experts in anything that we do here, however we don’t let that stop us from giving it a try. We live our life by trying. We live our life by doing. We live our LIFE BY LIVING.

  • Working so hard and remaining so pleasant, you both show such strength, character and maturity!

Great work as always. Getting the tarp on just seconds before the rain shows how quickly you've both adapted to Portugal. Leaving it to the last minute and getting it done is an art very few outside of Portugal know how to master.

Oh, my goodness! Hang in there sweeties! Your progress and perseverance is nothing short of astounding!

I so look forward to your videos. I just love seeing how you two work together and always have a bit of a giggle or a smile. You guys are amazing to watch. The tiny house is coming on so nicely.

Nice seeing more progress on the roof. As for the extra weight of the OSB board, I see absolutely nothing to worry about. The roof could hold easily two or more times the additional weight. Thumbs Up!

For a couple of newbies, that was some great and fast work! Just in time for the rain. It's starting to look like a house again!

I appreciate your candor throughout this process and how you compensate for your lack of experience to get a desired result.
  • Just in time! Congratulations on a new step completed, well done ! 🇨🇦❤️
  • Normally insulation is 60 or 120cm large, so if your rafters are every 62,5 cm the insulation will fit and you can also Cross The second Player of the plasterboards.

You’re so resourceful and clever. You must have done a ton of research to tackle this enormous job. Well done!

Well done getting that lot fixed then the tarp just in time. The tiny house is going to be so sturdy, pat yourselves on the back & talking of backs give them a bit of a rest before battling on. Big hugs from 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 ❤

I can definitely see a "home" coming to life! How exciting! Beautiful work!❤

Nice work! Sturdy framing---and with your teamwork, you beat the rain! Roof looks might durable and I think you'll be happy with the 18 mil vs the 11 mil---just for peace of mind. Thanks for the chuckles and smiles. It makes a viewer like me in a more temperate mood for the day.

Nice progress, just in the nick of time for the rain! You two have done an amazing job on this project~!
  • @esmekaffen4961
Great job you guys! The roof looks to be really sturdy and it’s lovely watching the tiny house coming together. Of course love seeing pups racing around having fun while mom and dad are working😂❤! And take care of your backs guys! Maybe a spa day or an hour with a good massage therapist - and then a day or two of rest? Thanks for another great video and have a good week❤.
  • @clionamm
It's looking great. Will be the nicest roof in Portugal! 🙂
  • Great Job. Enjoy the week. Love watching your progress. WOW! It's incredible how positive and motivated, organized and smart you two have become building and renovating this small home. So Inspiring.... Yes really, you have inspired me along with other Portugal vloggers so much I began my own channel so when I arrive to search for Property in Dec - March I can film it. WOWZA a lot of great filming you guys do and editing. I am learning on my old home reno here in the states hoping to make decent vids by the time I hit Portugal. Keep doing what you are doing. One bit at a time, one day at a time, one weather day at a time...That Tarp raising was BRILLIANT! Hugs. Gina in Upstate New York USA moving to Portugal
