The 1980s saw the emergence of electronic dance music and new wave, also known as Modern Rock. As disco fell out of fashion in the decade's early years, genres such as post-disco, Italo disco, Euro disco, and dance-pop became more popular.
Rock music continued to enjoy a wide audience. Soft rock, glam metal, thrash metal, shred guitar characterized by heavy distortion, pinch harmonics, glam metal became the largest, most commercially successful brand of music worldwide
R&B, hip hop, and urban genres were becoming commonplace, particularly in the inner-city areas of large, metropolitan cities; rap was especially successful in the latter part of the decade.

Many great artists not mentioned on this list...yet a few were repeated, instead of showing certain artists 2, 3-4 times to other artists once... would of been great for others to of been shown like: Duran Duran, Nick Kershaw, Pet Shop Boys, 5 Star, so many more....yes there are thousands lets face it not all could be shown on one post...but if fairly shown once many more could of made it on this video. Either way .. thankyou for the memories, born in 1971 i remember all shown here and very joyfully sung along, brought tingles up my spine and tears to my eyes. I dont care because its my thoughts, but no other time can beat the 70s 80s and very early 90s for musical talent and wide variety of musical genre. Days thatll be missed, days remembered fondly ❤

Growing up in the 80’s…this brought back some amazing memories. My wife and I sat here singing and jamming along. Thank you for the trip down memory lane.
  • @carlossnzm
Demasiado talento en los 80's para abarcarlo en sólo 100 canciones faltaron varias bandas y solistas (Duran Duran, The Cure, Billy Joel, Rick Astley, Elton John, etc.) Fácilmente se llegarían a 500
  • Great compilation👌 ...but missing Duran Duran, Alphaville, Alison Moyet, Tears for Fears, Erasure, Cutting Crew, Bee Gees.
  • @debbieanne7962
A great decade of music, better than todays where everything sounds the same
