Dad and me pick up this 1969 Chrysler with a 383 magnum from the factory. It’s been sitting in the desert for 40 solid years. Last registered in 1978. It was parked not even 10 years old. Will it run will it drive first start in 4 decades . Mopar guys should love this !

  • These were a solid car, the 383 is somewhat forgotten now because we're so obsessed with stroker big blocks. The 383 is smooth and will run forever.
  • Anyone who saves a fuselage MOPAR gets +10 Karma in my book!
  • its the little things in life, seeing those lights pop on after 40 years is exciting in and of itself
  • My grandfather had 2 of the '69 Chrysler New Yorkers w/383 cu. in. engines. The one was just a parts car that my grandfather bought from an individual. Not a junkyard. He bought his first one used from an elderly person that no longer drove. He had it until he passed away.

The fuselage Chryslers are fantastic, well built cars. Awesome ride. Look good too.
  • @JVaughn344
Steel wheels with white walls is a good choice for that ride... good to see you keep saving the vintage old rides👍👍
  • Had a 68 Chrysler Newport, and a 78 Cordoba. Best cars I ever had. This video brought back some really good memories! Thanks for taking the time to give this one a second chance.

The "thumb wheel" under the padded dash is for the radio front to rear speaker control. The A/C is factory installed (H 51, manual control). Over the years I have had 3 '69 Sport Fury's, two with 383 HP, one 383 2 barrel, a '69 Monaco Wagon, 383 HP, PW, P Seat, DUAL A/C, 67 Town And Country 6 passenger wagon 440 (original), Dual A/C, tilt PW, Window sticker, build sheet, one owner car, sat in a carport for 40 years that I bought from the original owner's widow. 2 67 Imperial LeBaron 4 door, both had dual A/C, one auto temp, one manual control, 2 67 New Yorker 2 door HT's 440, A/C PW P Seat, one '68 New Yorker 4 dr HT, 440, Power everything, factory stereo AM/FM radio, tilt, cruise, P Locks, trunk, cornering lights etc. I like the mid/late '60's Mopars because sometimes they would LOAD a car with options Good luck with your latest find.

On the older chrysler products, if they move while cold, yet stop moving once warmed up, it needs a transmission filter...I bought quite a few chrysler products dirt cheap due to people thinking the transmission was out...

My dad bought a1 year old used 1970 Chrysler Newport. It was a 4 door hardtop. A big car for sure. I used to work on it and drive it to school. I am amazed you got that old 69 running! They used to have H78/15 tire size back then. Rear leaf springs with angled shocks and front torsion bars. Smooth ride with decent handling for a car that was 224" long. 1969 was the first year for the fuselage style C body.

My dad had a ‘69 Chrysler Newport and it was probably one of his favorite cars. Seeing your video pop up interested me.

My 1st car was a 60 plymouth. I went to do the brakes and busted a couple of studs on the left side before i found out about left hand threads. Had a lot of fun in the old boat.

Thats like finding the titanic , but not in the water version! 😳
  • That was a great car in its day. Super well built & comfortable. My 1st car was a 1969 Chrysler Town & Country station wagon. It was quite a battle wagon - heavy, comfortable, and versatile. It’s a very close brother to the car you’re working on here. Mine was a 383 2-barrel with A-727 torqueflite automatic. It was my main transportation car from 1985 to 1993. Best of luck with your project!

I'm in eastern Canada. My uncle from PEI always had a huge Chrysler and in the summer he would load up the family and come visit with one of these hauling a pop-up trailer. When I saw this video I had to watch it!

383s are great engines I'd go with the white raised letters gives it the moonshine look
  • @YKXZWX
beautiful car I love the old 4 doors and I think it also deserves a complete restoration

My Father bought this exact style Newport brand new in 1969,it was his first new car in the US and he had just emigrated a year earlier. His hard work paid off,he was able to get a brand new car.It was a red exterior, and as children we wend on many rides in the big beast. Thanks for the memories.
  • my uncle had a car exactly like this, same color and all. And yes, he always had a Cigarette. Thank you for saving this C body, I wish people would have started saving C bodys decades ago, they are such good and unappreciated cars.

My folks had a green one when I was a kid, first burn out I ever did was in that car! Even had the 383 magnum!
