"Puttin' On the Ritz" is a song written by Irving Berlin. He wrote it in May 1927 and first published it on December 2, 1929. It was registered as an unpublished song August 24, 1927 and again on July 27, 1928. It was introduced by Harry Richman and chorus in the musical film Puttin' On the Ritz (1930). According to The Complete Lyrics of Irving Berlin, this was the first song in film to be sung by an interracial ensemble. The title derives from the slang expression "to put on the Ritz", meaning to dress very fashionably. The expression was inspired by the opulent Ritz Hotel.

Why have they never used this in a Ritz commercial. It’s perfect.

This is the song you put when you are dressing to go out at night.

Those of us who lived through this when the song came out it was an all encompassing radio moment. It dominated the airwaves and nobody seemed upset about it. An 80's ripple in time...
-
2:39 Another one bites the dust. You'll never unhear it.
-
the vibes of this song are immaculate

as a thirteen year old girl I believe many people my age underestimate how incredble and catchy older songs are...I have been criticized by so many people my age because of me listening to classics like Elvis Presley, Taco, Roy Orbison, The bee gees, The beetles, Frank Sinatra etc they tell me I shouldn't listen to these songs since they're for older people but...like we have to remember people my age in the past probably loved these songs and heck they might've been the trendiest songs at the time so believe me when I say...music ageless it doesn't matter how old or how new the songs are anyone can listen and like them.

I love Taco's voice!

The song is so creepily catchy to listen to, I just love it. It would also fit for a horror movie or a Tim Burton movie.
