This Jumpscare Took Years Off My Life

For the people who might not understand what the game is about- from what I understand, it's about a man on welfare and gets disability benefits from the government and is shunned by people anywhere he goes because he's on welfare. That's why his mother wrote in her letter that those people don't understand those on welfare and with disabilities. The guy delivering the packages encounters the story of the killer in the game who is on welfare and gets disability. The guy from the room who doesn't said he doesn't come outside says he doesn't want to be like those people aka the people who get welfare and disability. At 38:38, the note about the priest saying "what is the weak person doing? I don't want to see it just useless without money." He is referencing someone on welfare, and that someone is the guy with the letters from mom and who lives in the building. At 40:47, when Mariko sees the guy looking at her son, she grabs him and takes him into the house because in the game, the reputation of someone being on welfare is that they are lazy. It's basically taking a stereotype and making a game from it. It's also ironic because everything that is stated in the diary letters are tasks that the player ends up doing for them. With Mariko, the player has to find the baby when in the beginning, she was scared of him seeing the baby, or at 42:20 about the cat. The letter says the player gives her a cat can, and then when he's delivering packages, he gets the cat can. I don't really understand what happened at 44:32, but basically, the delivery guy just encounters this guys stories.

Not sure if you’ve picked up by now Berlin but it seems like this one focused on how people with disabilities get treated and the welfare is probably the government help they get. If I’m not mistaken, Asia/Japan (I think his games are based in Japan) also has history when it comes to how the treat/feel about disabled people… so yea hats off to Chilla for including real world issues.

That last jump scare was top tier, shit made me jump even on a phone, sent chills down my whole ass body. Berlin whole vibe changed after that, my man had NO libido, no energy, no serotonin, no dopamine, no fear, no eezygang, no "my babies safe", no "the whole team eat", no "On Me", no "Oh-wah" left in his body. My boy was EXPIRED after an indie game jump scare and I was too. S tier scare - and best part about it is the build up. At that point it just went tits up and got spine tingly the whole rest of the way. Berlin face go from 🤔 to 😲😧☹️🙁😶😔☠️

There was one jumpscare the whole game and it was one of the best out of any game. I had to take a 10 minute break after that one
