You can build a gold farm in the overworld using Pigmen spawn-mechanics surrounding netherportals. You build an enormous amount of gigantic netherportals... you place a bunch of turtle eggs to attract the pigmen... and then a little something something with trapdoors and a dropchute... Logicalgeekboy built one on Legacy SMP season 2?
