I am so happy to welcome back frequent guest of the show, Ross Rosenberg. Ross is an expert on narcissism and codependency, and he's here to tell us about his amazing new book, Codependency Revolution: Fixing What Was Already Broken, which also helps raise awareness around what codependency actually is, why codependents tend to end up with narcissists, and what you can do about it.

One brilliant takeaway: codependency is an addiction.

I always enjoy talking with Ross because he speaks from personal and professional experience, and he brings new observations and thoughts from the field into the fold.

What he offers is hope, something many of those in these toxic relationships need, so I hope you enjoy what Ross shares with us as much as I did.

Let me know: what were your favorite takeaways from my conversation with Ross? Did you resonate with his experience or the behavioral dynamics of a codependent and narcissistic relationship? I'd love to know if it gave you any insights. Don't forget to follow Ross - youtube.com/@RossRosenberg
  • Narcissism is bandied about too loosely, which in turn masks the reality of how vague it can be. This discussion of codependency is some of the best I've heard. I'd love to listen to more on independent codependent healing with Terri & Ross. I admire your team approach. 😊

Thank you Terri Cole 🌹 I find it such a benefit to follow practitioners that are specialized in all the aspects that impact the self and family. I appreciate how you work together for change.

1st takeaway was that Ross talks about the name of the word co-dependency being that of a comparative to having a self love deficit disorder. I think we all understand the definition of codependency. ❤great redirection from Terri is that it is “an addiction “ it’s not just about self love etc it’s an umbrella term for a myriad of maladaptive behaviors -over functioning. Second takeaway *Raise self esteem by doing esteemable acts like reading these authors books Boundary Boss and Ross’ books as a good dead for self!

This felt like I was listening to a car salesman. Answers were kinda all over the place.

The million dollar question is can someone have a healthy marriage after SLD? Does SLA equate to healing a family unit? They sound like polar opposites, what is needed to have a healthy relationship with another?
  • I don't know why we're putting narcissim with the codependency. Not all codependent people are in a relationship with a narcissist.
