The birth of the moniker the Bloody 100th came about on October 10th 1943. It was the third day of daily bombing raids of US forces against German targets. The 100th Bomb Group led by Major John Eagan took off and assembled into formation. The last plane in the formation was the most vulnerable and known as "tail-end Charlie". On this mission that misfortune fell to a plane called the Royal Flush. It was piloted by young officer Lieutenant Robert Rosenthal. 13 planes took off and only one would return. How could the most vulnerable of the planes in the worst position make it's way home on that day?

Being the lone survivor of a squadron is bad for your mind

The quality of your video graphics keeps getting better and better. But what is 100 times more important is you have raised the quality of level of stoy telling while keeping in all the facts. BRAVO!!

my great uncle was a B17 bombardier he and his crew survived a crash in italy and were aided by an Italian family and when allied forces advanced he was back in the air war and unfortunaly died in sometime 1944 or early 45 according to my dad, that side of my family still sends gifts to that family that helped him we even have pictures of him standing on the downed bomber with his crew way too many good men died in those bombers

Wow, this was incredible. It included details that Masters of the Air failed to mention, and it had the perfect balance of narration, sound effects, and voice acting. 10/10 YarnHub, you have nailed it once again. Thank you for all you hard work in honoring these heroes. Also, Deblasio was an absolute beast.

Masters of the Air missed the opportunity to tell a better story. We are blessed because we have Yarnhub! Rosie and DeBlasio , the tail gunner are legends!

What the captain of the royal flush did wasnt exactly evasive maneuvers, he moved the B17 as if it was a destroyer in the water. He opened arcs of fire for the other gunners so more guns can come to bear on the approaching enemy fighters. The moment was bought to life spectacularly in the series Masters of the Air. I recommend a watch. Another amazing video Yarn, thumbs up ❤

IT IS STUNNING! All the faces look like the real person so closely!

I read the caption and Immediately remembered the scene from Masters of the air. The Shock and despair in the eyes of the ground crew and staff said it all that day

The zoom in on the bullets flying through the air and each saying “like, comment, subscribe” was brilliant and hilarious. Got a sub here mate! Good job!

I remember 4 years ago during quarantine, watching the video of Alan Turing, and the bf109 sparing the b17.. and now this is where we are, with top tier animations, story telling, and editing. Thank you for bringing us history and keeping history alive!

Imagine being one of the officers who signed off on the mission, waiting at the air base as you see a single heavy bomber, slowly land onto the runway. Glad to hear that at least most of the plane crews made it out alive, just captured, but all of their sacrifices have been immortalized.

Masters of the Air did a fantastic job with this almost unbelievable story, and somehow your telling is even more impressive.

Once again this channel is very underrated. They should have more subscribers than they already have at the moment. The amount of detail, time, and dedication that is put into these videos almost always amazes me. Including how the music is placed as well. This channel is like a diamond in the rough just like other certain channels that I know are sometimes suppressed by YouTube and its algorithm. Whether they be military channels or other types of genres on this platform.

The Bloody Hundreds Munster Raid.. Yes! I recommend everyone to watch the Masters Of The Air series, this story is potrayed there, along with any others
  • @PaulRedeemed
I can't imagine the pain in the surviving pilots minds, or the sorrow in the crews hearts awaiting the 100ths return when they realized this was it when the one landed.
