Sir Adrian Carton de Wiart served in 3 wars, Boer War, WW I , and WW II. Although this Sabaton album, The War To End All Wars , focuses on WW I. Yes, wounded many times. Shot in the eye, ankle, leg, hip, stomach, face, head, and ear. Survived 2 plane crashes, tunneled out of a prisoner of war camp, and tore off his own fingers when the doctors refused to amputate. All those wounds, and he survived, and lived until age 83. Sir Adrian , in this video, is played by Indy Neidell. Indy co-hosts most episodes on their history channel, with either Joakim or Par. More from Sabaton to try: any of the animated story videos, suggest starting with Night Witches or No Bullets Fly.

He was shot in the face, head, stomach, ankle, leg, hip and ear, Was blinded in one eye, Tunneled out of a POW camp, Survivef 2 plane crashes, tore off his own fingers when a doctor refused to amputate his arm. When describing his experience in ww1 he wrote "frankly, i enjoyed the war" Also something about "only the civillians enjoy a war ending, a true soldier wishes war never ends" 😂

One of the stories about Adrian Carton de Wiart was after he lost his eye. Having been released from hospital in England he was told to go to a place in London to get a glass eye. He felt it was a needless bother but he went and picked out a fake eye. Then in a cab on the way to the train station to go back to the front the glass eye was bothering him so he took it out, threw it out of the cab window, stopped at a costume shop to buy an eyepatch and went straight back to France.

Great reaction. For more Sabaton you should check out the animated story videos to Night Witches, Lady of the Dark and No Bullets Fly, the last one still makes my eyes water even if I have seen 20+ reactors react to it. Have a nice day and keep the good reactions coming.
  • The way the music video ends with ‘Frankly, I enjoyed the war’ kills me everytime lmao. After all what he went through, my dude is chill till the end
  • @MacOriginalGamer
Sir Adrian Carton de Wiart was the epitome of FULL CHAD! Dude was high speed, low drag!
  • If you want to know more their Sabaton History channel goes deeper into the history of the songs
  • @adamschank7703
In the song, the battle of Passchendaele was mentioned. They actually have a song about that battle, as well. It's called "The Price of a Mile". Fair warning: it's also pretty heartbreaking. Also, if you are interested in learning more about what the songs are about, they have a Youtube channel called Sabaton History that goes in depth into each song's meaning.
  • @jc_da_killa7132
I would love a side series where you have a look at sabaton’s history channel after watching the song to learn all the history behind the songs in a lot of detail. Also fun fact the guy that played the solider in the video clip is Indy neidell who is sabaton’s historian. He features in a few of there videos.
  • @swbigfan1
If you want to stay in the hard stuff, check out "night witches". On the other hand if you'd like to change up your Sabaton experience then check out "Christmas Truce". And if you go with Christmas Truce then go with the official music video and let the credits run.

He was shot in his face, head, stomach, ankle, leg, hip and ear, he was blinded in his left eye, survived 2 plane crashes, tunneled out of a POW camp and when a doctor refused, he amputated 2 of his own fingers to return to the front line, later the arm was amputated because the finger stumps had gotten infected. He served in both WW1 and WW2, he is the only man to ever get the highest militay award from 3 different countries. He was also knighted 4 times in the UK and knighted 1 time in Belgium
  • @AHVENAN
I really think their cover of Motörheads 1916 should be next in your journey of discovering Sabaton, but I warn you, you're probably going to want to have some kleenex within reach if you do that one, cause it's an extremely sad story portrayed in a very emotional way!
  • @Wrathlon
I love how much Sabaton gives these stories the absolutely epic emotional feelings they deserve. Its also crazy to me that normal people can find themselves in war and be like "Yes, this is where I belong" and proceed to tear a path across histories battlefields like they were born for it. I beg you to watch Lady of the Dark next, her story is fucking unreal.
  • @najroe
great reaction, more please. Sabaton has a loooong list of history based music. Sabaton also has an award winning history channel that gives background to over 100 if their songs (not music award, academic, aimed at education of the public) . Sabaton videos are often have dedictions and/or messages at the end, perhaps not always but, watching to the very end is frequently well worth it. Animated STORY videos (short history lessons with music videos in them) No bullets fly Night witches Lady of the dark Red baron first soldier Epic official videos. Christmas truce, about the spontaneous truce in some parts of the western front during Christmas 1914 40:1, about polish soldiers, badly outnumbered (just under 750 in all) facing 42 000 germans, they where BADLY outgunned desperately defending against the German invasion 1939 (with odds actually close to 55:1 they held for 3 DAYS when ammunition and supplies ran out. Uprising, the Warsaw Uprising against the nazi germans during 1944. To hell and back, they tell the story of Audie Murphy (highly decorated) and his struggle AFTER the war, so about PTSD and drug addiction that returning soldiers can face. Fields of verdun, the 300+ day long battle fought there. Price of a mile, about the battle of Passchendaele Screaming Eagles, about the battle of the bulge Live performances 40:1 from poland Uprising from poland En livstid I krig live from Göteborg Sweden (in Swedish but there are subtitles) , very heavy again, about thoughts of a young man going to war. Covervof if the Mötörhead song, 1916 , sad song about being a soldier that gets lost in the war and is forgotten by everyone. and the cover of Radio tapoks Defence of Moscow is also good, these are just some, there are plenty more.
  • @bro2917
Thanks for reacting to one of my favorite bands and giving them the proper reactions they deserve! Also, you have SUCH a cozy voice to listen to!
  • @renejensen7799
What this song dont tell, is that he survived 2 plane crashed as well, the end note saying Franly i enjoyed the war.. Adrian your on the edge of madness..lol
  • @BerishStarr
Yes Ray! More Sabaton, keep 'em coming, you have many to go. Can I suggest "En Livstid i Krig" (A Lifetime of War) next? Chose the Live in Gothenburg ❤🤙 And as others have said, reaction to Sabaton History would be awesome. They have history videos of many of their songs. And lastly, if you find a story interesting. Do seek our more info, they are often remarkable, amazing stories. Like Adrian, or the last stand of the Swiss guard (Last Stand, amazing song).
  • Another little tidbit from this video is the actor who played Anton. His name is Indy Neidel. Indy is the Host of The Sabaton History channel, as well as "The Great War" (A week by week breakdown of the first world war on all fronts), as well as the "Work War II" Channel (also a week by week breakdown). He is also in another Sabaton music video of "the seven pillars of wisdom."
  • @thezaret639
we are talking about a guy who survived several plane crashes about 30 injuries to his body during war time. served through 3 wars and till the end was the perfect soldier and gentleman, he straight up told chairman mao to his face that he didnt like him. this was a man who truly found a home on the battlefield he enjoyed war
