Jan. 20 marks the 30th anniversary of the release of 52 American hostages in Iran. "60 Minutes Overtime" returns to the early weeks of the crisis with Mike Wallace's famous interview of the Ayatollah Khomeini. Why famous? Would you call him a lunatic to his face?

How do we know this wasn't Sean connery acting as Ayatollah?
  • @irufan14
Interesting how Khomeini answers the questions calmly but the voice translating is highly dramatized
  • Now imagine an Iraqi reporter getting an interview with Bush and asking why he attacked Iraq after no WOMD was found.

Sadat: "Khomeini is a lunatic". Khomeini: "We call on the Egyptian people to rise and dethrone Sadat." lol

Thanks to hard-hitting interviews like this, 60 Minutes would become #1 among all primetime network shows in 1979-80 and in turn, helped CBS — after three years of ABC domination — become the top network once again.

I agree with him on freeing black hostages.this man is a great man God bless him.
  • @jwm66
"But that is not an answer to whether the hostages will be freed" Mike Wallace
  • I was young and non Muslim at time, despite my being Sunni and Ayatollah being Shia,I always liked him, maybe at first because he let black people go free, now I feel he really wanted his ppl to live according to their deen

Look at the "presidential suite". I bet the kings and rulers of the world can take a humility lesson from Imam Khomeini r.a
  • Mike Wallace IS a crazy, blunt and yet a genius interviewer. I admire him soo much and have had several classes on his style.
  • The Translation is not complete. Because , Persian Language is really different with English .
