Ive heard the Canadian anthem many times at ice hockey but never before at a soccer world cup. This was truly amazing to witness!

I'm born and raised in Toronto and this is my first time seeing team Canada sing our national anthem at a World Cup 🇨🇦 This was such a special moment 🥹🙏
  • As a Mexican this gave me chills and I’ve loved watching this team since the qualifiers wishing them the best to our neighbors up north!
  • Amazing after 36 years, the anthem returns to the World Cup. Shout out to Canada’s head coach John Herdman, he’s not even Canadian and he’s singing along. Respect 👏👏

Absolute chills watching this again, as a proud Canadian. While I was watching it live, didn't notice Kamal Miller crying. Dude put the shift of his life in after that. Should have been the MOTM, but alas. What a memory, what a performance, and what a day we will never forget.
  • One of the most beautiful anthems in the world. I love canadians. Hug from brazil
  • I’m a Mexican American but I’ve fallen in love with this Canadian team. Best of luck from Portland ❤️ let’s destroy Croatia
  • I'm Jamaican-American and I'll always support my friends up north as long as they're not playing against us. I love you, Canada.
  • I can’t believe no one mentioned CHRIS HADFIELD was next to Herdman

It was good to see Canada today. They played really well and deserved to win. They are looking good for the next two games.

Oh Canadá 🇨🇦🍁, beautiful anthem finally back in the World Cup ⚽️❤!
  • Very disapointed with the final result, Canada deserved the victory🇨🇦 but they will have more chances in the next match💪🏼 Brazilian rooting for you Canada boys 🇧🇷🤝🇨🇦
  • Massive respect from Scotland to Canada. Such a beautiful national and passionate anthem. So unlucky to not get anything from this game but cant wait to get behind you for the next 2 games.
  • Mexican here, canadians should be proud no matter what, they play great and have a great generation of players, unfortunately Belgium is a top team, looking forward for Canada in this WC. 🇲🇽🇨🇦
  • God, there isn't a day that goes by without me having goosebumps thinking about this moment. I shared tears with Kamal Miller that day, as did a lot of people. Belting out O Canada before the game, everyone in the pub with scarves in the air, really showed the potential this sprt has in Canada. What a day.

I remember watching this special moment as a proud Canadian from Gator Ted’s Tap and Grill in Burlington, Ontario, and I’ll never forget how proud I was in this moment. With complete patriotism and love for country beaming from my smiling face, whilst seeking to lead the restaurant in singing alongside these brave and tenacious group of men who put in an incredible performance against Belgium, watching this moment again brings me right back to that special and historical moment. There are only few times I’ve been prouder to be a Canadian, and this one is special since this is my first World Cup with Canada participating. No matter what happens from here on out, this moment was special and I’ll never forget it. Come on boys, continue to make us proud!!!!! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

Seeing this past World Cup made me realize how much I love the anthems. Not just my own. But the anthem of at least most of the countries. There’s something about a song that actually means something sang by thousands of people at the same time. Every country man and woman deserves nothing less than absolute pride when they sing their song. For the briefest of moments I believe that a country that sings their anthem with so many people and with so much passion becomes the greatest country in the world for as long as the song lasts.

As a panamanian I know this moment was so special for my canadian friends...last world cup my country anthem was played for the first time in history, and for Canada this means like the first time since 1986
