This whole “release now, fix later” trend in modern gaming is criminal

It’s so crazy that a game releasing in a finished state is worthy of praise these days. There really should be a consumer law against releasing a clearly unfinished game.

GTA Definitive Edition tried to warn us folks.. We obviously did not listen.

35 bucks and 60 gigs for an unfinished product from two decades ago. These studios are wild.

How did they manage to fuck up this bad? I genuinely want to know what their process was. Multiplayer issues, singleplayer issues, memory bloat, rubberbanding, desyncing, audio problems. It's actually incredible how they fumbled this. 100% of the work was already done for them. They were competing with modders working on the weekends and STILL failed.

In SWBF2 you can't deploy as a droideka because it's classified as a vehicle. There's no way to go into ball mode.

It makes me sad that the lesson the games industry will take from this is that "people don't really like old games as much as they thought", no I want a modern game, with the same amount of love, care and content as they used to put into them.

"Star Wars: the refund" Should be the title of the game

The thing that makes releases like this even more infuriating is remasters CAN be done really, really well with a little bit of effort; I'm specifically thinking of the Command & Conquer Remaster; the original dev team came back and lavished a lot of care and effort on a beloved game. Did it make EA a lot of profit? Probably not, but the sales did apparently it surprised not only EA but the dev team with how well it was received. And that's because it was great. I did look who Aspyr sits under, and someone was recently telling me how notoriously awful the Embracer Group are, so the lazy, crappy, half-ar*sed effort suddenly makes sense.

This isn't where the fun begins.

Back on the older generation of Xbox 360/PS3 and before, you never needed updates to fix bugs or garbage designs. It’s amazing how some AAA Titles are subpar today.

Modern gaming release remind me of that one episode of Dexters lab where his dad is washing a car but things on the car break constantly “wash it now fix it later.” Then I’m pretty sure he flips out and drives it off a cliff at the end.

I have never wanted to refund a game till this shit. And disney in their wisdom will prob think." Hmm no one plays battlefront so a battlefront 3 would be a waste to invest into."
  • Idk man, the attraction of the game for me wasn't online. It was inviting my friend over for couch co op. We've been chowing snacks and playing on my couch and it's amazing. I haven't even touched online play yet.
