No one loves you more then a BH!!! If you have attachment disorder etc they are therapeutic. I have probably trained Amelia but I think we have trained each other. She communicates everything she wants.

Hi Luz and Louie and Nick! Great video! Very Informative! My BH licks and grooms herself all the time, too! I thought it was because she lives with a kitty! We have a big beach towel on the bed and have trained her to only lay on it, so I can wash it more often. It rains alot here so I also taught Ru to wipe her paws when she comes in (treat under a towel, then "Dig! Dig! Dig!) Please, Liz, send Oregon some sunshine! God bless you all!☔️🙏😊🐺💞
  • I watched a few of your videos since I have what you classify as a 4 yr old Red Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog). I got him from the local shelter here in Sedona AZ was a transfer from New Mexico Shelter rescued from an Native American Rez a year ago. He is little shorter in stature and his coloring makes him look like a mini-Shepard. He was more difficult than the two Pit Bull mixes my wife and I had previously, that had past. We crate trained him but eventually he refused to go in the crate, now we have a cushioned dog bed w/bolsters around which he sleeps in. He refused treats for training but through some dog owners in our neighborhood gave us excellent help. My wife wanted a second dog so we now have an off white female mixed terrier which is taller than him. So, he tries to herd her by nipping at her legs or her lower jaw, plus he chases her away becoming very protective of me. One thing he loves is to be scratched, when I take his harness off at night he gets a scratch down and always wants more. We have play time in the 50 ft dog run tossing a Frisbee which he chases after returning with it he wants to play tug of war.

Hi Liz. I love the channel. Lou is gorgeous. I live in Albany Western Australia and had a blue heeler cattle dog named Sunny. He passed away about three years ago. He looked so much like Lou. He just so smart, loyal, loving. I would go running with him through bush tracks about two times a week. Some times down the beach. He used to attach a rope with a rubber thing on the end to a plastic coca cola crate and swing the whole thing around. When it came off he would lower it back into the crate till it hooked on and swing it again. Anyway kind regards.

Been watching you since I adopted my blue heeler x border collie, and I love you! Been such help in the trying times of owning a cattle dog (especially as a puppy)
  • Both my ACD sleep with me on my bed. We're a pack, (as long as they know, and have to get reminded, as they do challenge you, you are the leader, it is no problem.) They really are alot easier dogs to own than some media will make you think. If you are on the edge of getting an ACD, just go for it.
  • From one heeler mom to another, when you give Lou a bath, blow dry him with a shop vac in the reverse feature and it helps so much because it blows so much of the the coat off. We have two and now that we've added that to their weekly bath routine, it's cut down on the amount of hair by at least 1/2.

Amelia my Blue heeler scratched us up so much as a puppy we decided to crate her at night. Now she has a bed on the floor and has a set spot in bed that you dont know she isn't there. We have been lucky that she is calm and lazy like me. Lol. Love u guys and channel..

  • Hey Liz and Lou! Long time since I’ve been here. Long story! I accidentally came across some pictures of my sweet little Heeler Bella. Some where she was about 5 weeks at the breeder’s house, some of her first days home at about 8 weeks !’ She just turned 4 in December!! A couple of words on unasked-for advice.😊If you are ready to buy Heeler; blue or red, don’t let anyone try to sell you an impostor of a full blooded Heeler who doesn’t have a white star on top of their head! No exemptions!! No white star? No full blooded Heeler! Be careful . Know your breeder! I’ve seen people buy “Heelers” that aren’t really full blooded Heelers! Also, be careful with feeding them . These dogs will eat themselves into oblivion! Most will eat anything!! Bella eats any fruit, raw or cooked and any veggies, cooked or raw! I haven’t yet found anything she won’t eat! They will explode in weight, especially if they don’t get proper exercise !! Thanks to “Heeler Nation””! Enjoy your Heeler as much as I enjoy mine!’😊👍

Thank you for answering my q on crate training! I am getting a heeler pup in a few months and I am trying to figure out the logistics of them sleeping and settling in a crate.

I have a 14 week old Red Heeleer. By far smartest dog we have ever had. Learning as fast as we can teach him. But....... he is a horrible searcher LOL. Wonder wether this is just mine or a breed thing. If he loses sight of his toy, he cannot find it to save his lil life.
  • I just listened to you talk about the food you feed lou and mentioned grain free, I would ask your veterinarian about grain free diets, I asked 2 different veterinarians about that cause it's a confertational subject and both answers I got was its really bad. Check it out and see what your veterinarian says about it. I love your videos and you and lou are adorable together. Enjoy that boy I know I love my 3 heelers
  • @slimandlean
My heeler gives herself a full manicure once or twice a day it seems lol
  • Oh Lord yes my red heeler Conor licks his wet paws ALL THE TIME. LOL!!! Glad to know Lou does too.
  • I just moved to Washington from Virginia. We drove and my dog was not a fan at all. We didn't stay in many hotels because my heeler would bark at everything and became aggressive during the car ride cause I feel she was stressed. That being said when we made it to washington I put her into a training program to get help on behaviors that I didn't know how to fix. I thought this was a good way for her to destress while I went through quarantine for my job.
  • Think these dogs aren’t tough? I met a guy recently who has one Blue Heeler and two.Pitt Bulls. He said , and I quote:”My Heeler can kick both their asses!”😆😆
