I'm actually surprised that MatPat did an entire episode about Da Rules and at no point did he mention that Timmy is actually like 50yrs old and actually wished for everyone to be perpetually the same age.
  • First thought before watching the video: his kid is binge watching fairly oddparents and this is how Matpat is staying sane
  • @sumireokamura
Another question, why Vicky's little sister didn't get a fairy? Even Timmy feels bad for her having to deal with Vicky more than him.
  • I remember that in one episode, Timmys fairy’s were revealed to his parents. Jorge was about to take them away when the dad suggested that Timmy keeps his fairy’s and that he and the mom gets their minds erased. Wanda said they can’t do that but Jorge said they can.

This guy is pretty funny, I’d love to see him make theory’s about other things like games, food, or even style!
  • @helloimro
The fact that Matpat blatantly disregarded the real CHILD ABUSE Timmy faces on the daily that lead to him getting his fairies is kinda hilarious to me, "he didn't wanna do chores" bros parents told him on the daily that their lives would be better without him and repeatedly left him with a babysitter that tortured him 💀

You completely forgot about the episode that reveals the show's biggest secret. In season 8, episode 10, "Timmy's Secret Wish", it's revealed that timmy made a wish for everyone to stop aging, and cosmo granted it. It's then revealed that timmy wished for cosmo to forget and that's why cosmo is so dumb. And it's revealed that he made that wish 50 years ago.
  • There’s been hints that Da Rule book is constantly updated with new rules. So from the beginning, Da Rule might not have been as restricted as the current edition. For example, in current time, it is against the rules to wish someone back to life, but in the episode Timmy meets King Arthur, who actually died fighting a dragon, Timmy wished him to be brought back to life with Cosmo and Wanda actually considering do it which they did, which implies fairies can bring people back to life, but a rule was later added to restrict that ability Also, there are ways to get around some rules. For example, Timmy tried to wish his embarrassing threat-mantic email (wrote by his parents) to come back, which was denied because it is against the rules of love. He was still able to get it back, but not directly by wishing himself into the internet to get it back himself. So it is possible to break some rules, you just need to be smart about it.

Timmy got fairies because his parents are borderline abusive. They lied to him saying they were abandoning him to get a home video of him crying. So he called Vicky and ended up with an abusive babysitter. So I think it goes deeper than him “just not wanting to do chores”
  • Da Rules were actually created after one of the notes Butch Hartman was given after he pitched The Fairly OddParents to Fred Seibert and Larry Huber which says that he can't give Timmy unlimited magic. So as he pitched it again, he brought up the concept of "Da Rules" and it became a cornerstone of the show.

If you really wanna drive yourself a little crazier over the world of FOP, you should discuss the implications from that Timmy’s Secret Wish special where we learn he wished for the world to basically run on loop so he could keep his fairies forever & all of fairy world learns how long it’s really been on earth (50 years)
  • Something to note about Da Rules is that a lot of them are only added when a wish goes catastrophically wrong and the only solution is to wish for it to have never happened. So my theory is that Da Rules are effectively a way to teach the children to use the magic for good, positive reasons. Perhaps as a way to prevent the Darkness from being lured to them
  • @ltr3an
The plot hole you didn’t mention was that in the same episode where Cosmo says he was the last fairy born, they literally say that fairy’s couldn’t have anymore children due to how destructive Cosmo was as a baby
  • @Froggios
i love just how every cartoon episode of film theory is just Matpat and theorist team watching at least +10000 episodes making unique theorys out of them and mat making at least one bad joke
  • @redstocat5455
Fun fact: on one of the episode the main caracter reveal that he made the wish that nobody age so he can kept his fairys forever, and that he made this wish... 50 years ago, so that explain why nobody in cartoons age...
  • @Awesome_Pichu
I love how they can't wish to hurt someone, but in one episode, Wanda straight uses her her magic to throw Timmy's bully into a locker repeatedly.
  • Let’s not forget the council’s very existence in the first place. As much as it was brought up in the show, and in this theory, the only thing that would make sense is that Da Rules were a decision of the council. Jorgan was put in charge because he’s strict, not strong. Any fairy can look like him through magic. Even he does this, his iconic appearance is just him using magic to look intimidating. But therein lies another aspect to Jorgan. Fairy Boot Camp. He may not actually be as strong as the soldiers of old but he can, and must, make the rest. So decides the council. What no one expected was two fairies being given to an average kid that no one understands.
  • @BillyGodd
The fact that timmys dad knew cosmo was real, should of wipe timmys mind and reversed all of timmys wishes
  • @jaxonsazle
Let's not forget the almost rule-free muffin, where the only rule is you can't wish for a better tasting muffin.
