ESSAOUIRA, MOROCCO - Welcome to Essaouira on the Atlantic coast of Morocco - known for its history, laid back culture, and of course - fresh seafood! Today we’re going on a Moroccan seafood food tour.

A huge thank you to Moroccan Food Tour (moroccanfoodtour.com/) for arranging my trip to Morocco!

Hafida and Family (maps.app.goo.gl/6Jz6Zxs8Wp1qoxTF7), Sidi Kaouki, Morocco - But before arriving to Essaouira, we stopped at Hafida and Family to learn about, and taste famous Argan oil of Morocco. Argan oil comes from the Argan tree nuts, which look like olives. It grows and is only produced in Morocco and is famous for cosmetics and skincare, and also edible as a dipping oil. The fresh argan oil with fresh bread was something truly spectacular.

Street oyster bar - After arriving to Essaouira, we headed straight to the fishing pier where we visiting the legendary street oyster bar, open air and right within the port. He served us a seafood cocktail mixture, some fresh oysters, and big sea snail as sashimi.

Chez Karim (maps.app.goo.gl/o734zLX4mtWEN8Lm9) - One of the best things to eat on the coast of Morocco are fresh sardines and so we bought some sardines at the market, and then took them to a very local restaurant where they grilled them up. We also enjoyed an outstanding small but sweet prawns tagine, which was actually one of the highlights.

Fish Burger Essaouira (maps.app.goo.gl/7Kn1PeZnxznogthv8) - And never would have expected it in Essaouira, but if you’re looking for a delicious fried fish burger and a unique sardines burger, this is the place to go. So good and everything is made fresh by them.

Dinner - We went to a local home to eat another Moroccan celebration dinner - this time Bastilla / Pastilla - a Moroccan filo pastry pie, filled with seafood. This was something truly spectacular, a celebration of a dish and the hospitality was unparalleled!

Pastilla is Moroccan dish not North african and you will not find it in other countries in north africa and don't believe Wikipedia because anyone can write whatever he wants on it and i can also write that the origin of Pizza is Moroccan if i want that but there are very old books who talked about pastila and said it is Moroccan and not North African for example the old book " fadalat Al khwan fi taib Al-taam wa al alwan " which was written in the 13th century and described its recipe. And there are also other books.
