We toured Kennedy Space Center the week before Apollo 15 launched. Just getting to see it sitting on the launch pad through the tour bus window was the thrill of a lifetime for an 8 year old boy.

Bitter sweet to watch these videos knowing how this nation retreated from greatness in the decades after Apollo. It was our finest hour.

Every Saturn 5 launch was spectacular. A truly awesome machine.

The 50th anniversary is 6 days away. I was lucky enough to be standing in a field 3 miles from the launch pad that morning with my parents and brother. The 8mm film my dad took is now on DVD. An awesome memory.

All the respect in the world for Cronkite but it is nice not to hear the anchor talking whole time during liftoff.

I saw this one in person bf it lifted off at the cape back in '71,it was really neat to see it.

2:00 are the various camera angles (in B/W) actually being feed live into the launch sequence and seen by the watching public or are these spliced together for later viewing by NASA? It seems an amazing achievement to be able to pull such a compilation of angles in 1971.

@altfactor as was the case from the first launch at KSC through Apollo and then later ... the launch announcer was John King...I would have thought he was from New York and not Boston with that accent...

As was the case from the Mercury 7 through Apollo, the anchor for NBC was Frank McGee.

I would love to use this (with credit to you) for a school assignment at my university. Is there any way we could talk? @lunarmodule5
