  • the North Korean lifter handing back the airpod and refusing to elaborate is the most chad thing I've ever heard 🗿

the end with the story with one of the NK lifters watching WH videos was neat to hear about and also sad. I can not imagine living in the state that they do and being sheltered from the rest of the world.
  • That female 55kg lifter has otherworldly shoulder strength. Reps at 65kg like she wasn't even trying, wow.
  • Music goes away later in the video. Just skip the first 3 min until they fix the video.
  • Hey guys the background music is making it hard to follow the audio. May need to be turned down some.

I bloody love this channel, and this sport. Thanks for doing everything you do <3 Can't wait for this Olympics, I can't believe its only a handful of days away!

I didn't think the music was that bad, but maybe next time, choose between lifting audio or music, not both. Preferably the lifting audio.

Oof! That music is too loud and breaks my concentration.
  • I saw a video of Om Yun Chol pressing like that, and started pressing that way. I like it. It's probably not worth much, but years ago Kirksman Teo on his old site said basically North Koreans train similarly to the Chinese, but have much more emphasis on speed compared to the Chinese. Kirksman also said more Russian influence, too, which, who knows. I kinda personally see perhaps some Japanese influence in their training, with many of them using a close stance/frog start, and the fact that Japanese were very into pressing and pulls years ago, too. Even now with pressing you can see Mikiko Andoh pressing 65kg for reps pretty easily BTN, and other Japanese female lifters pressing 60-70kg pretty easily.
