Prius hybrid battery replacement. Learn how to replace a hybrid battery in a 04-09 Toyota Prius and make money while you're at it! Replacing a hybrid battery is not difficult at all.

I show you how to scan the computer to check the hybrid battery and we got a P0A80 code which means replace hybrid EV battery. I also show you how to clean the hybrid battery fan to keep the battery cool. To remove a Toyota Prius hybrid battery you remove a few interior trim pieces, unbolt the hybrid battery, swap out battery cells, and reinstall. While I did fix a Prius, you can apply the same process to many other hybrids like Honda, Chevy, Nissan, Ford, and Lexus. So whether you are Prius to fix and flip for a quick profit wheeler dealer style, or you want to fix your hybrid so you can continue to use it, here is the in-depth video on how to replace a hybrid battery safely and easily.

Reminds me of when I was a kid watching my dad work on the car except with these videos I'm not holding a flash light and getting yelled at.

Am I the only one who has absolutely no plans on changing a hybrid battery or really anything he does on his videos but watch his videos any way ? 😂😂
  • @Adrianwesker
Thank you saved me $4200 labor plus parts and took me 25 min. My prius feels brand new! Thank you so much. I'm a guy with no mechanical skill. Thank you Chris fix. 😊

Not only does this video brilliantly illustrate how to replace the battery but it also shows Toyota's brilliant design. Every last piece of this car is designed to be easily serviced even though there are a number of parts to take off to get to the battery. Someone with just a few tools and moderate mechanical skill can do this job in an afternoon and save a lot of money.

CHRIS WHY AM I LOOKING FOR USED PRIUSES NOW

Changing battery 10% Unbolting & bolting screws 90%
  • At 21:40 - just a note that it's necessary to bolt the battery to the car before attaching the electrical connections. One bolt is longer and black, and goes in the upper left corner. I think this is the ground bolt. If you connect everything and start the car, you'll get strange errors without the battery bolted in. Don't ask me how I know. :)
  • 4 years later and he still loves and replies on his videos. This man needs more love and credit! Been watching ChrisFix for years and his content still entertains me and inspires me to be a good mechanic. Keep it up Christ! ❤

My brand new bride and I had just purchased a house that needed a whole lot of work right after she graduated medical school and her Prius started throwing every warning light on the dash.We did not have a whole lot of money and a new battery from the dealership would have been more than the car was worth. This video gave us the knowledge and confidence to replace the battery together, Thank you.

do my car need a battery change? NO! do i have a hybrid car? NO! do i even have a car??? NO! am i watching the whole video? Hell Yea!
  • I can't believe no one has commented on the quality of this video.... It was slick and very professional... Very clear and precise and made good use of clever video techniques. I doubt I'll ever have a Prius but I loved that video... Thanks for that Chris
  • By far, the best thing to do to keep track of where bolts go is once you remove a piece you partially screw bolts back into their holes by hand. It will save so much frustration of remembering where they go and the possibility of forgetting. The only downside is the little bit of extra time of taking them out again when u want to replace things but it's worth it

Dude, I just cannot tell you how MUCH I appreciate, and have used this video. It has been a total life saver. I really appreciate how you organize your commentary. Its condensed, yet totally thorough, so it is easy to go back over and over again to refresh my memory, or verify something I did that doesn't feel right. Very sincerely.....thank you.....
  • @dryroasted5599
I watched the whole video and I don't own a Prius.  Very well presented information, Thanks.
  • @TheJakePoole
I don't own a prius, never worked on a prius, probably never will, but I watched it anyway because there was something satisfying about it. Wat
  • I love your voice over. You have a broadcast quality voice with neutral accent with friendly demeanor. Great content on important project.
  • This might be the best tutorials Ive ever seen period. I had to break into my battery twice, once on an attempted refurb and once for a complete battery change when the refurb failed. Both times I couldn't have got the job done without this video. Thank you very much.
