Wait, this is the man who invented Inktober? That's amazing.
  • Every year I'm always too busy during October so I can never keep up the pace. November is easier for me, so I end up do "Inkvember" instead. LOL

Well, for the past 5 years or so I've only been lurking around in the online art world instead of contributing myself. Since I finally started drawing a few weeks ago, I guess there's no way around Inktober for me this year. My biggest concern was coming up with ideas, but the prompt list solves that. No more excuses left. Damn. πŸ˜‚

How to do Inktober: 1) Draw for four days 2) breakdown over non-existent pressure 3) pretend you've never heard of it 4) ??? 5) profit

A great way to think about this challenge is to think about what you want to get out of it. For instance if you've only used fine liners and never learnt to vary your line weights with brush pens or brush and ink techniques, that's a great goal. Or say if you only work traditionally, playing with different photoshop brushes and techniques might be a great way to expand your repertoire. For me, I want to learn how to ink (and draw) backgrounds, play with broken lines to create depth and contrast, as well as incorporate colour into my work as I have been for the last year or so. It's good to get out of your comfort zone. :)
