WATCH MY COVER OF THIS SOLO HERE    • "Galveston" (Live) Guitar Solo Cover ...
SOURCE VIDEO FOR MY LESSON AND COVER . THIS SOLO IS PURE BRILLIANCE!!! The lines show a really deep understanding of both the song structure and the tradition of his musical background. It's also extremely virtuoustic and contains of all the hallmark's that make Glen's playing legendary. Beautiful phrasing, octave runs, arpeggios and sweep, the odd outside notes and chromatic runs weaved in so masterfully. This was REALLY hard to copy- probably the hardest cover I've done.

Clean Strat (sounds like early 60s to me) with no gain to hide behind. (distortion sounding guitars are much easier to play and hide a multitude of sins)

Anyway, here's the cleaned up video- I remixed the sound, applying EQ, rounded out the bass, and normalized the peaks, with about a 3 db gain addition. This sounds better than the original video I took it from.

Guitar players who dig Glen - PLEASE SUBSCRIBE. I have other classic CG solo covers and lessons posted here, with much more on the way.

  • There never was, and never will be, another like Glenn Campbell.

Glen was without a doubt one of the best guitarists on the planet. He is truly missed! Rest in peace Rhinestone Cowboy!!
  • @jonnybalz
One of the most underrated guitarists of all time. He is sorely missed, but that guitar playing and wonderful voice will still be inspiring for others 1000 yrs from now.
  • Hendrix was asked "What is like being the worlds greatest guitar player?" Jimi pointed to Glen Campbell and replied "He's over there , go and ask him".
  • @edrxpark
Another underrated part of this solo is the fact he's playing some technically challenging riffs and staying absolutely lock step with the band, all while live in concert!
  • @lausd3562
Thank GOD glen recorded these songs before he left us.
  • @SuperDrJeckyl
Glen Campbell is so criminally underrated as a guitar player and true artistic genius.
  • Glen Campbell, what a showman, nice guy, and absolute beast on the guitar. One of best ever, any genre.
  • Keep in mind Glenn was a session musician with 'The Wrecking Crew' during the mid 60's before he became famous himself as a solo artist. His fantastic guitar work can be heard (unfortunately uncredited) on numerous hits from the 60's. It is no joke when he is considered as one of the best guitarist of all time!

One of the finest guitarists that ever walked the earth.
  • Thank you Glen for being there for us Veterans in those dark years for so many of us. You gave us hope, your musical songs gave us reasons to live. Legendary guitarist.
  • About every 6 months I watch Glen perform and it blows me away how talented he was and you can tell he loves performing
  • @wisenber
Appreciating a genuinely talented solo is one thing. Now knowing he performed that midway into his battle with Alzheimer's makes this even more remarkable.
  • When I was in my 20s I won a free ticket from a radio show contest to see Glen Campbell. At that time I hated him. If one of his songs was on the radio I'd change channel. But I was a starving student and would never pass up anything free ;-) So my friend and I went to his concert and it literally changed my life. I saw real musical talent and prowess for the first time. I was so inspired that I changed from being a bedroom strummer to a semi-professional musician and paid my way through university and beyond by playing music. Thanks, Glen Campbell! You made me about $50,000. And more importantly, you made me a very happy little musician.
  • Glen Campbell and Steve Wariner…both incredibly underrated guitarists because of their success as singers. Glen is one of the fastest flat pickers I’ve ever heard…period. Wariner can play a blazing country solo and then turn around and play Chet as well as Chet. Legends in my book!
  • Glen Campbell and Jerry Reed are so under rated. Clean and precise guitar work.
  • @melomane2010
Glen Campbelll, Jerry Reed, Roy Clark - I think every guitarist of my generation respects the heck out of those guys no matter what genre they're into.
  • @MrNunna
I am a ROCKER but I really liked Glenn Campbell. One of my favorite songs by him was Wichita Lineman. Very soulful.
  • Anyone who still brings the world this amount of Joy will never truly be gone from us...I wish I could loop this song for 24 hrs straight.
  • @josephboyce4522
I was a teenager when Galveston and Wichita lineman came out and although I was mostly a R&R kid, I fell in love with Glen Campbell's music. I watched his tv show to see him plat guitar.
