As someone whos watched donut forever, there was an actual shift long ago with more aggressive sponsorships and ads and more… stereotypical car stuff instead of tinkering like they use to. I have nothing against ads etc (as long as they r safe) but there were less cool videos and more reaction content or like.. full video ad stuff. They made a react channel thankfully to spread some away and their “buying weird stuff” videos are great. People have also been commenting about it for years but get fqnboyed down in the comments, its kinda like how doug demuro videos dont feel right anymore, he does less research, less personal feel and now feels like hes being paid to sell a car. A lot of the time he straight up ignores big things about a car that sure maybe most people dont care about but the enthusiast do

Hey Linus. You probably won't read this but I just want you to know that my heart goes out to you and your family in these troubling times. Were I you in your current situation I would be an inconsolable mess. I have no idea how you managed to keep things going so well during the last show. Please man go take some time off and just take some time to think about your sister and try and make peace with the whole situation we'll be here when you're ready to come back. What Luke said about not telling kids they are amazing hit me hard. I was called the little professor since kindergarten and always got high grades in school even though I never put any effort into it. But IRL I’ve worked minimum wage jobs for 15 years while my friends from school that struggled make lots of money. If I’m not immediately amazing at something I lose interest right away. I got diagnosed with Asperger’s as an adult and to this day people say I’m smart and I can hold conversations with economists, historians, politicians, scientists at parties but I’m still stuck at a dead end low wage job. I am forcing myself to change however and learning to work with physical labour. Something I’ve never been good at besides tinkering with computers. I have been doing great in school but when the internship started it was obvious that I struggled with IRL work but this time I don’t plan on giving up. It is physical labour up it requires a licence to work that has to be renewed every 5 years so it requires both theory to pass the tests and practical skills.

I'm so sorry for your loss Linus, my sincere condolences to you and your family.

I'm paying my ISP for a certain bandwidth. Shouldn't matter how I use it. Throttling it because it's used for P2P connections doesn't make sense, the bandwidth was paid for.

Been to Taiwan, and Japan a few times and I can say that the feeling between those two countries were quite similar. You can see scooters, and motorbikes with keys on them left out of malls, and stores, not afraid they might get stolen. Awesome country.

Community made servers was literally the only way to play in the gold age of multiplayer gaming. Then they got replaced by official servers, then it'll be replaced by community made servers inevitably

the way i see the licensed content issue with games is pretty simple. during development, put everything that has a temporary license into a "licensed" folder (vampires the masquerade did it) and write your game so that it doesn't break if these assets are missing. once the license is expired empty out that folder. the users can then put those assets back into their games and the blame is no longer on the company.

Internet archive should be allowed no matter what and paramount should be scraped as a company

One thing I've learned over the years is: never do 'startup' kind of work (aka long hours low pay) without having/getting a stake at the company. The owners will sell out your work and you will see nothing from it.
