There is no way in hell this guy comes from a "modest" background. Money is the only possible explanation for how anyone let him drive. He or his family for sure have influence/connections.

I'll bet some Arabian prince did this all for a giggle or two. "Let us pick the worse driver available from a karting race, finance him ans see how far we can push it".

How this guy was even allowed on a racing course when he drives like he got his license as a prize out of a cereal box is a mystery to both science and God.

Recently Somalia entered a woman in the World University Games in China who finished 10 seconds behind the winner in the 100m dash. Yes, you read that right - 10 seconds in the 100m dash, a race where the winner crossed the finish line in about 10 seconds. It turned out that Somalia's President of Athletics Federation sent her niece to race for Somalia. It not only embarrassed Somalia but cost the President of the Federation her job after it was discovered that the woman who raced had never competed in a race in her life. So yeah, money, fame, power and political status can buy people a place in sports where they should never be.
