I lost my soldier, my beautiful son, 17 years ago today in Afghanistan. My heart is still broken. The pain never goes away. 💜
  • My soldier left exactly 5 days ago. I pray my baby makes it back. Pls pray for the young couples that go through deployment. Idk what to do without him. 9 more months to go

I'm a 67yo redneck but this song wipes me out every time. Kudos.

Spent 3 years in Iraq, A secret base in South East Asia, and Afghanistan. Worst of times/Best of times. Bittersweet, but the bonds we as men shared, that I’ll never talk with again, because of the pain, is something I’ll always remember. Good guys, worst conditions, always in my heart. You are not forgotten!!!

My Dad was a career soldier/journalist in the Army. This song always makes me think of him. Growing up he was constantly on deployment, and we never knew for sure if he was going to come back. He was and still is my hero.

The fact that this song didn't pop up to our screen as suggestion, but we all searched for it❤
  • My dad was in the Air Force. He was always working two jobs to make sure we had a comfortable life. As a little girl he was my world. He passed away when I was 9. I've heard the stories about how great of a man he was. I never got to know him as well as I wish I could. Every time I listen to this song I choke up thinking about him. I love you Dad. I miss you, my travelin' soldier

This song makes me so grateful. My dad was 19 when he volunteered to move to the front of the draft line. He was the sole support for his widowed, disabled mom but felt it was his duty to serve. God watched over him and he was one of the lucky ones to make it home❤
  • My third cousins body was just returned two years ago, from a battle that took place in ww2. God's glory and mercy onto all the traveling soldiers

This song always reminds of my Dad who was 18 in 1969 and was drafted right out of high school to go to the Vietnam war. He went to Fort Irwin in California for training just like in the song. My crazy, brave Dad was one of the lucky ones who made home and could tell his daughter he loved her ❤

The duality of the song being so personal and simultaneously so relatable to so many individuals is what makes it beautiful.
  • I've listened to this song over and over and over, the live version and I cry and weep every time. My brother was in Afghanistan and he's not the same anymore..2 tours and I think of what it was like for him and hundreds of thousands of families that go through loosing their loved ones even if they do come home

This song came out the year I met my husband, a soldier. I remember hearing it and thinking “Do I really want to sign up for this?” Well, my husband retired from the military two years ago and after many adventures both together and apart-mostly apart!-we’re free to settle down together for the rest of our lives.
  • I am ex military and I think about my friends who didn't make it back home. November 11 is always the saddest day of the year for me.

To My Precious Soldier I love you and I miss you. Please stay safe. God Bless you. 🇺🇸👩🏼‍🚀
  • This song hits me being a wife of a Marine 🥹 It hit as a kid cause of my family history has been marines, naval officers, and army soldiers

I'm not a country fan at all but this song is just so good.
