I emulated everything with the original hardware without spending anything extra... Thank you

    1. Take a PSP that plays tons of emulators and PSP games 2. Take out the PSP functionality and put in completely difference hardware for some reason.
  • @brandogg
Good idea if you have an extra PSP or find a faulty one...but the PSP itself already is pretty amazing for homebrew and has essentially perfect compatibility w/ PSX games, can play MK1/2/3 (Midway Arcade Treasures Extended Play), etc.

I've followed his channel for awhile, and it's really cool to see it showcased here! the main challenge being finding a CM4 at the moment, but it's pretty freakin' NEAT.
  • @othermod
That intro is so good. Excellent video. Thanks for taking the time to show my work and I really appreciate the kind words.

Tito Halloween specials are becoming a tradition at this point. Love the work!

The other day I came across my original PSP1000 which a friend broke the LCD and front case. My father bought a replacement shell but never got around to doing it. Now 18 years later I know what I can do with it. Awesome mod

This mod shows that the PSP was an incredible marvel of engineering. Not only the construction as you can see, but the power of the device. A goddang PS2 almost, in 2004, portable. Their choice to go with optical discs was something only Sony would have the balls to do as well, and really allowed it to shine with all the graphics it can pull off and the depth of games. PSP's marvel of engineering aside, this mod really follows. That level of proper engineering of boards is as incredible as it can get and as an engineer myself, I know, absolutely love and respect the effort and ability put into this. And it's upgradable to boot, considering it's modularity. The only thing I could point as a change would be using the Memory Stick slot for the Pi's SD slot on the carrier board, and that sure isn't much of a thing to complain even. One funny thing tho is running PS1 games on it or PSP emulated, that's the silliest most roundabout way of achieving the functionality it already had, but of course that isn't the point, I can imagine this being a beast running Wii games even when the software support is there and the Pi compute modules get powerful enough. Imagine a PSP running Switch games? That would be crazy!

Making such an elaborate intro for a single video is sheer madness. I love it!
  • @SkullatorNZ
This is a cool mod and I'd deffo do it in any faulty PSP1000 I come across. Can't help but feel this should have been listed in the cons section: No PSP game support yet, and the ps1 emulation could also be slightly lacking when compared to POPS loading also available in standard cfw PSP. So while I'm sure it's a bump in power and will give better n64 emulation performance, it's also fair to say there is some loss in PSP \ PS1 performance too.
  • @nerdsick3778
That is so badass! The fact you can get it "drop in" ready is incredible. 👏👏 The endless upgradability is so cool!
  • @iamsteezze
With the way things are going, retro gaming will live forever and long shall live game preservation. Big up to lads like Adam.
  • @hirobian2
This mod is a perfect way of giving new life to PSP1000 consoles that are no longer functional and now basically for parts.
  • @Vaskomyr
Been following this project myself. It will be cool if we get a cm5 with the same form factor, so you could just drop in a major upgrade, of course there will be more power/cooling requirements but still the prospect is dang cool. Would probably need to upgrade that battery to something larger though and need a 3d printed back cover. Have a dead psp1000 ready for some add-ons, probably snag the core components soon.
  • @MadsonOnTheWeb
What a great episode and thanks for the interview with the original modder!
  • @clemch97
Happy to see othermod finally covered by a larger channel. The effort he puts into his builds and videos should not go unrecognised.
  • @JimmysCubicle
Been watching othermod's progress for a while, he's amazing and this project is something i would definitely buy.
  • @_hypedad
I gotta say, I've just gotten back into retro games and consoles and I think you are the most detailed, most articulate, and most knowledgable creator in this space. I hear you mention things like JST connectors, and Bails for ZIF connectors and I immediately know you know your stuff.
  • @DJFRANDYMFC
The spooky thing is that they removed the PSP gameplay capability...😂
