The River

Hold your hands up, to your chest and tell me what you find.
Out of you a sparrow comes and sees without its eyes.

Don’t forget who you are even though you are hurt
You are caught in a wire and soon it will burst.
Come back to me, when you’re ready to reveal your worst.

You can cry, drinking your eyes,
Do you miss the sadness when it’s gone?
And you let the river run wild.
And you let the river run wild.

I’m a shadow, I am cold and now I seek for warmth.
Stitch your skin on to my skin and we won’t be alone.
Don’t forget who you are even though you’re in need.
Like a bird in the night, your emotions deserves to be free.

You can cry, drinking your eyes.
Do you miss the sadness when it’s gone?
And you let the river run wild.
And you let the river run wild.

You can cry, drinking your eyes,
I don’t miss the sadness when it’s gone!
And the feeling of it makes me smile.
And I let the river run wild.

You can cry. You can cry . You can cry.
To where the ocean is bigger. Become a part of the river.
You can cry. You can cry . You can cry.
Can you let the river run wild.

You can cry, You can cry . You can cry. drinking your eyes,
Do you miss the sadness when it’s gone?
And you let the river run wild. And you let the river run wild.

You can cry, You can cry . You can cry. drinking your eyes,
I don’t miss the sadness when it’s gone
And the feeling of it makes me smile
As I let the river run wild

You can cry. Drinking your eyes.
Do you miss the sadness when it’s gone?
And you let the river run wild.
And you let the river run wild.

Aurora: You can cry Me: Already crying tears of joy

Aurora isn’t odd or weird. She’s the outward expression of the inner monologue that most of us have forgotten and can no longer hear. That’s why her music resonates. That’s why we get goosebumps when we listen. We have become jaded. We have forgotten. This is why I truly love her and her music. She has brought me back to myself. Thank you Aurora.

This is going to sound a little weird but I need to say it somewhere. This song made me realize that I want to live. All of her songs make me feel something inside, but this one really has solidified it for me and now I know what it is. I want to live, I want to be free, I want to let go of the stupid worries and fears the world has given me and just experience everything. I have been suicidal for a long time, and I still am, but I feel like this song made me realize there are things in life that are worth fighting for. And I want to try to keep fighting.

Dear Aurora, Thank you. We love you. Regards, The World
  • One of the reasons I love this song, I hear people saying "oh, don't cry" thinking it's comforting, it's not it's just invalidating, at least it is to me, I don't want someone to tell me not to cry, to tell me not to express my emotions, I know what it's like to not be able to cry when I need to and it's horrible, being able to cry when I need to is such a refreshing feeling, don't keep your tears in if you need to cry then you can cry
  • @petrjech5252
The part in chorus when she says: Do you miss the sadness when it's gone? I can't say why, but it rly hits me everytime
  • @danalefay
Aurora is not weird, she just act the way she wants without worrying about what people will think about her. She's not weird, she is free.

I'm a hardcore metal head but I heard under the stars and her voice has woke something up inside me that I thought died a long time ago. Now I can't stop listening to her music.

I am a 40 year old heavy metal fan who hates pop music. My daughters came across this song while asking Alexa to play disney princess songs. Two listens in and I was sobbing like a baby. This is maybe the most beautiful thing I've ever heard.

when aurora finally dropped the scissors that's when she finally let the river run wild; aurora is telling us to not hide our emotions and let them run wild, and that it's okay to cry. when we all finally drop our scissors that is when we will fully bloom. when the vines start to rapidly grow they bloom into beautiful flowers. i love aurora sm !! <3

As a former self harmer. I cried so much when she threw the scissors. Holding Your tears and sorrow, fears as hostage, will only only feel as it has a hold of you more. Release it. Thank you. Who ever reads this. I love you.

If The Mother Nature has a daughter it will totally be Aurora !

As a 15 year old, Aurora is now my favorite artist because every time i explore her songs i keep finding songs that are just soooo 🤌🤌🤌🤌
  • Oh boy this song helped me come to terms with the miscarriage my wife and I suffered. I don’t know how but it just opened up a box of emotions I was keeping locked away. It’s so perfect, nails the bittersweet sadness of loss while still being able to look back and smile at happier memories and ultimately allowing yourself to just accept that pain and let the river run wild. I’m a man in my 30s and probably not the target audience for her music but this spoke to my core and I just wanted to leave this comment (likely to never be seen) to say thank you

As a person, I always try to hide my sadness, depression and anxiety. Otherwise, I'd think people would judge me and see me as a weak human being. This song and music video literally touched me on a spiritual level. All of those feelings I try to hide, those are the things that make me human. Thank you Aurora, for once again reminding me I shouldn't be concerned about the things that every human has and how NORMAL it is to show emotions.
  • @63rdwho
My gosh, I can relate to the message in this song for sure. When I was younger, my dad always made it clear that he thought admitting to pain, and especially emotional pain was a weakness. I was never able to convince him that it's ok to cry sometimes. This song is the perfect message for this, and it is beautiful too. I cannot wait to see Aurora live at the O2 Academy, Bristol in November.
  • @colombala
This song helped me realize that some resentment I was holding in for so long was actually just sadness disguised. And as I listened to this, I cried it all out because I was so tired of having that weight on me, and it feels so good and so natural to just let it all go. Like going back to who I really am. I never was that resentment, I was always just a person with a shining heart that was hurt in the past, and who swallowed tears that turned into thorns. I'm not afraid to let the river run wild now, and to let my heart shine again with scars and all. Auroras songs have all helped me in extremely deep ways. I'll never be grateful enough for all that they've done for me.

"Don't forget who you are even though you are hurt" That means so much to me🖤
