  • I love how Cindy says she's going to miss her maternal grandparents but her mom says "They're only 20 minutes away"........and they are never seen again.

'I don't want you to forget your Mother and neither does Carol'.... Mother immediately forgotten about and never mentioned again the rest of the Series.

It's funny but, this show is so sweet and wholesome, sometimes I actually cry. Love the Brady Bunch

I can remember this premiere episode which aired in 1969, as if it were yesterday. My friend and I walked home from Junior High that Friday afternoon, anxious to see this new show that was supposed to feature a bunch of kids our age in a TV show about a subject that was often not even mentioned in those days; blended families from divorce and/or death. It quickly became our favorite Friday night TV show, quickly followed by The Partridge Family the following year, and, of course, Room 222.

After all these years I still love this show. It's timeless.โค
  • And somehow I chuckled again when I saw the dog in the car with the boys and Mike!!! A TV show of my youth. ๐Ÿ˜Š

We need more good family shows such as The Brady Bunch.

"I don't want you to forget your mother, and neither does Carol - at least not until the end of this pilot episode. After that, we'll never speak of her again."

Funny how they never mention the boys Mom ever again. Also when Cindy says "You're going to visit us Grandpa" Carol says "Of course they are Cindy..Mike's house is only 20 minutes away" Then Carol's parents are never mentioned or seen ever again LOL.

My children had a similar experience when I remarried. My children are all adults now, 33, 31, and 28, but every time I see them I see their mother who passed away when they were 15, 13, and 10. The following summer, after her passing, we took her ashes to Ireland to scatter them. My children know there is a place where their mom is. I believe Mr. Brady handled that situation perfectly including bringing the dog.

The bit with Bobby in the beginning is so sweet. Little kids are truly capable of surprising you and doing things that are unusually mature and insightful for their age. Iโ€™ve been involved with childcare in various capacities for years and can say from experience this exchange really rings true. I think people donโ€™t give kids nearly enough credit sometimes.

Robert Reed may not have liked this show but he still did a wonderful job as Mike Brady.
  • @Ethergirl
It's a nice scene ( where Mike tells Bobby to keep his mother's picture out and that they'll never forget her.) But ironically after this first episode, you never see that picture again, and she's never mentioned again for the duration of the series! LOL And the girls' dad is never mentioned either!

Really sucks how the perfect family, dad , mom , siblings are only on tv ๐Ÿ“บ
  • I was 9 when this show first aired. This and The Partridge Family and Love American Style, all on ABC. That appeared to be the network to be on back then.
