Write umlaut a (ä) and o (ö) with Alt+[code]

Short video showing how to write umlaut a and o (ä, ö). It should be possible with Alt+[code] (if it doesn't work, please tell me).
(You should not care about the Japanese writing because it is misspelled and contains misused grammar.)

    this actually helped! I alway confused on how to type it in and now I know. Had to hold down the Alt key and use the Num Lock pad numbers to type it in.

  • it doesnt work i press alt and type the number and it doesnt show up
  • I typed but all umlaut characters are appearing in capital letters with Alt+132 and with Alt+142. please guide

    Nothing is written but the windows Error ding plays every time I type in a number :(

    Yes, I'm using windows xp and I have a Latin/Cyrillic keyboard. I've tried the combinaitons in both Word and on web pages, but I' getting Russian letters.
  • This is the third YouTube that I have watched and not one of them works. I have been on the internet for 4 hours now and follow the instructions carefully and not one of them works. But I would nevertheless like to thank you for this at least you have tried
