Every NHL season we see players get dealt suspensions, but it's not often when we see the league step in and hand out a hefty suspension. Here's a list of the longest NHL's suspensions ever!

You're missing the McSorley hit on Brashear (1 season) and Raffi Torres (41 games). I think there are a couple others that I'm missing off the top of my head.

Well done video, we'll need a part 2 with the few missing important one mentionned in other comment. Bertuzzi(20games) hit on Moore was a shocking one as well
  • What happened to Raffi Torres 41 game suspension, or the other Chris Simon suspension of 30 games?
  • The Wayne Makie, Ted Green stick swinging fight in a pre season game between the St. Louis Blues and the Boston Bruins in 1969 has to qualify as one of the most serious incidents in the NHL. Ted Green had to have surgery to remove bone chips from around his brain. I believe Makie was only suspended for 30 days though.

He says “Dirty plays” while showing a perfectly executed hip check 😂
  • @TheSpikestr
You missed the Raffi Torres hit he was suspended 41 games (Which is half the regular season) On October, 3 2015
  • Funny thing is Dan Maloney ended up playing for the Leafs 3 seasons later...and Brian Glennie was on the same team
  • i recently started following any NHL. Bertuzzi/Moore was the reason I started following NHL at all. I think it should have been in here atleast.

love the vids man! Also just putting it out there, but I enjoy the fact that you Actually credit other peoples videos that you use (Shout out to my girl Jens!) So many just use them with no credit so good to see that from ya! Keep up the good work and look forward to future vids from you! Especailly Sabres related stuff! GO BUFFALO!

I had forgot about Dwyer....... what a beaut.
  • i really appreciate the vids but i can’t understand how you do your tops? a lot of suspensions were missing, like the initial suspension to Tom Wilson after his hit on a St.Louis player, or even Raffi Torres’ suspension. it’s to bad that this isn’t an accurate ranking, but the vid is nicely written anyway
  • Dale Hunter had said he believed the play was still going on. I have the Washington Post newspaper from the day after the hit to the suspension for referencing. Thus, he hit Turgeon accordingly. As a Caps fan, even I do not believe that crap. He knew what he wanted to do all along. Yes, I do believe the suspension was justifiably warranted.

You missed Grant Fuhr and Don Maloney'being suspended for drug use... The irony in Fuhr's case, according to his autobiography, was that he had already quit using drugs before he was suspended.
  • @Beck-di3de
Donnie Henderson really milked that one for the payout
  • Chris Simon was later suspended for 30 games for stomping on Jarko Rutuus foot in October 2007. Brad May was suspended for 20 games for slashing Steve Heinse in 2000. Wayne Maki slashed Ted Green during a 1969 Preseason game. Todd Bertuzzi suspended for 20 games for sucker punching Steve Moore in March 2004.
  • You got the first one a little bit incorrect. King Clancy upended Eddie Shore with a check. Eddie Shore either mistook Ace Bailey for Clancy or thought Bailey was the one who hit him. Red Horner actually played for the Maple Leafs, and he responded by sucker punching Eddie Shore, knocking him out, Despite this Shore was not seriously injured.
