Forget Foam Filled Tires, Success with Sand!

had same idea with wheel barrow wheel.....happened to come accross your video many thanks

The potential problem that I see is abrasion inside the tire against the metal rim. Everytime the wheel rotates, some sand will slide along or move against the metal rim. Over time it will sort of slow-motion "sandblast" and abrade the metal until it wears holes in it. Have you experienced this happening yet?

I think a little sand and tire sealant would work good for most situations with most vehicles and tires.it would seal up bigger holes better.

You can try to mix in cheap ermers glue 50/50 with ethanol then mix that stuff 5 to 10% with sand. It will make almost rock hard but flexible concrete like stuff that will work better than pure sand that can dry out and tear up that rubber tire from inside out. The ethanol mixed with elmers glue will make it cure and harden faster when heat is applied and ethanol can easily vaporize out.

Looks like a basic 8" wide 10" diameter golf cart wheel if the wheel is failing replace it.its not expensive.

Creative idea but I see a potential problem. When you air a tire up or foam fill the tire, you are pressurizing the tire to a certain PSI Pressure to keep the bead from collapsing. Filling a tire with sand does not create the pressure needed to keep the bead on. Once the bead breaks away, the sand comes out.

that tire isn't pressurized... i wouldn't be surprised if the beads start loosening up... then sand coming out of it. wanna know why you were able to fit a whole tube of silicone? pressurization...

Why not use sand and cement. May still have to drill a number of holes to let the moisture out. This won't "sandblast" the insides. Just a thought.
