Thank you for mentioning the protests in Iran Stephen! The situation is dire with people fighting for basic human rights and many people including minors have been murdered on the streets and in the custody of the security forces. Every word to inform the global public of this situation counts! 🙏

I just love Stephen dancing with that chicken

If it weren't for Stephen Colbert, I would have gone completely bonkers over the last few years. His wit knows no bounds. Love him and Evie💖

I always love it when Stephen will gently chastise his audience
    “Really? Awwww? Really?”
Or “you were a little slow to react to that?”

One of the best things is that he never takes credit for himself when he achieves something. He always respect us, the audience, and his team, and he is always polite in all of his videos. We congratulate ourselves on this achievement. More to come and everything to come

That is insane amount of courage on the Iranian soccer team’s part

Stephen is, besides hilarious and spot on, always so peppy, happy, and animated. It's as if he enjoys his best band, best writers, best audience and loves his job or something. His improvised antics make me laugh. Sending Stephen and the whole TLS group some love and thanks. 💋

"Soccer players don't care what you do in the bedroom as long as you don't use your hands"
    True words, Stephen!

I appreciate his pause after the Eric joke. It gave me time to finish choking on my coffee. One day I will learn to stop drinking coffee while watching Stephen Colbert.

Hilarious monologue as always! Extra funny hearing about Pepto Abysmal's taxes finally being able to be released!! Just watched a clip on Jimmy Kimmel like yesterday where he said in a speech very recently, "I've released millions and millions of pages of taxes and have shown everyone everything...(dot dot dot dot) I am the most honest person ever" or something like that, and this has me losing it!!! This kind of stuff has me even more confused how anyone supporting him doesn't see the damn lies. Looking forward to him getting tossed in jail by the newest investigator, the guy who looks like he came out the Matrix taking place in the 1600s :D

Fun fact about the Belgian jersey: the word LOVE was on a label INSIDE the collar, in the back! Totally invisible! In my mind, I am picturing all the team members passing little nail scissors around in the locker room to cut the label out of their jerseys before walking to the pitch.

According to John Oliver's sources, FIFA's president was once quoted saying that he preferred totalitarian regimes to democratic ones to host the World Cup because it makes their work so much easier. If that doesn't toss up massive red flags about the state of FIFA's upper echelons, I don't know what does.

I'm a huge football fan in the UK and my gratitude for your show's continuing reference to the lies and hypocrisy of FIFA. And also the courage of the Iranian team in their show of solidarity with the Iranian people's movement. We somehow need to dissolve FIFA, and the major football countries should start this process now.
  • Shoutout to Alex Scott, the woman presenting for BBC ,she wore the one love armband whilst on the pitch. Brave and also super brave of the Iranian team.

How do you do it?!? You and your writing team make my day every time you make a show. Thank you so much.

Reminder: FIFA once granted the World Cup to Putin's Russia in 2018, military dictatorship-ran Argentina in 1978, and friggin' Mussolini's Italy in 1934. This Qatar deal is nothing new.

Thanks Stephen: "I'm dreaming of an indictment Christmas, the type we've deserved since long ago."
