All those lead actors in the original movie deserved an Oscar; and we all know it!

I love how Whoopi is unapologetically herself. So down to Earth.

“I’m the only husband you ever had!….”😂

NOTHING beats the original but the 2023 REIMAGINED version that premiered today is an instant classic in its own right. So good!

That movie!!!! The remake!!!! The ending song, and all of the cast just in general!!!! Fantastic! I took myself today and it was amazing! Fantasia poured her soul into this film.
  • I’m 41 now. I watched this film as a young child and have watched it thousands of time since. The first film to make me cry and no matter how many years later I watched - would still cry (the return of her sister/children scene). This film touched me. Touches me and as I write this I will declare this is in my top ten film of all time . Each time I watch I’m at a different age/stage in life and I see/feel different themes-messages - an historical visual document which I hope inspires so much more for many years to come.

This film has played such a huge part in millions of our lives. The Color Purple is Film/art/literature royalty. Black talent has defined American culture from the very beginning.

My favorite lines are: "I gotta go to school." And "Lord Ms. Ciely, when I looked up and seent yo face, I knows there is a God." That was a beautiful moment.

Whoopi, sorry for the loss of your mom🙏 The Color Purple was absolutely wonderful and I cried, laughed and rejoiced thru the film. Thank you all for this priceless remake.

24:26 when the actress who played Nettie didn’t come hug Whoopi she looked at her like an auntie and gave that “girl you better come hug my neck” look 😂 love i

I have always felt that Whoppi as genuinely herself...then rehearing the teaching of her mother encouraging her to be herself and people may think she's weird or strange... re-enforces that feeling.
