Guizhong had been resurrected back from the dead as Zhongli is finally able to unlock her stone dumbbell as the mark of their pledge a long time ago. Though, never did he forget about the stone dumbbell, nor did he even try to unlock it. For him, it is a way to preserve his past as a remembrance of her. But the day comes where he is finally fed up with his curiosity, and misses Guizhong a lot more than he should have. Turned out it was not a knowledge of wisdom that is hidden inside the stone dumbbell, the wisdom is her. He then, crave solace once more with the existence of Guizhong at the moment. He remembered a specific moment of the past. Heart wrenching as it may be, remembering her untimely demise in the field of glaze lilies. And yet she is here now, in front of him. — “You’ve changed, Morax.” Zhongli avert his attention to Guizhong, “How come?” He asked curiously. Guizhong chuckles at his response, slowly gazing at the not so distant Liyue Harbor where the lights are glaring bright, though it does not shine brighter than how she looks right at the moment. “Living through all those hardships.. I just couldn’t think of how painful it must’ve been.” Guizhong caress the lone glaze lily that was facing the Liyue Harbor gently, “You’re very strong indeed, Morax.” Guizhong quietly smiles and chuckles, “Well, that is quite ironic, of course you are strong.” In her thoughts, albeit Morax being the strongest Archon out all, it was not the brawn power that she meant to convey. She just doesn’t know the exact words to fill it out. Zhongli, who quietly stares at her for God knows how long, can’t help to hold his smile. “That is a pleasure hearing that from you, Guizhong.” He gaze too at the not so distant Liyue Harbor in front of him and lets out a sigh, “You’re the one who wants to conjoined our forces to protect Liyue by having me as the brawn and you as the brain, was it not?” Zhongli smiled wholeheartedly at Guizhong. Remembering the past isn’t so bad after all now. Guizhong lightly smiled, “Yes, that is true.” The cold breeze of winds became their third wheel, as no one speaks even further. Zhongli stayed quiet after hearing Guizhong’s response, but after a few minutes had passed, he then asked Guizhong a question. “Do you know what’s better than being strong?” He asked. Guizhong swiftly looks at Zhongli, unable to answer his question after a moment of silence. “Hm? Not that I could think of.” Zhongli then let out a gentle yet solemn smile out of all, “For me, it’s being soft.” Guizhong stares at him, doesn’t know the logic behind his mind. As if he knows what the young woman with the billowing sleeves might have thought, seeing from her micro expression that she is having a hard time understanding his statement, he gaze to look at her shimmering blue eyes. He lets out a slight sigh before talking, “You know how stubborn I am before I met you. You know what it was like for me to only know power as to gain something, and you know exactly how hard a mere stone can be.” He divert his gaze to the night sky full of stars. “Me who knows nothing except for war and power. Wrecking havoc wherever I go, relentlessly not knowing what a human being is any good for.” Zhongli looked sad as he is telling his story and reminiscing his past. After a couple minutes of silence, he gaze yet again to the couple of blue Glaze Lilies eyes that never lose its shimmering bright. Guizhong looked back at his sharp, amber colored eyes with a hint of glowing yellow pupils, knowing not what to say. “Then a certain someone came and showed me the things I am unable to understand. Possibly, a heart of stone is a heart nonetheless. It is how I realize that even a mere stone can change its shape.” “Needless to say, I couldn’t be the one who is strong. I am not worthy enough to be called as someone who is strong. The real strong person is the certain someone who is able to change the shape of a heart of stone.” Guizhong’s pair of big blue beautiful eyes glimmered at his statements. “And that is you.” As if the world stops for a moment. The moon that is shining bright, the stars that are full in the night sky, the careful wind caressing the night. There couldn’t possibly be a single thing that could ruin this beautiful moment. It is in this exact time, that Zhongli realizes that he has all the time in the world. How thankful he is now being able to be together after all the pain he had went through, having the only woman she ever loved by his side. A small Guili fluff story bc they have no content (An AU where guizhong is alive ig) The two lovers strolled through the bustling city together, taking in the festival smells and sights together. The lantern rite was their favorite time of the year. “Look at how far our city has come, Zhongli. Its amazing what mortals can achieve when they work together, is it not?” Guizhong spoke, her hand clasped In Zhongli’s. “It is quite impressive, I must say.” Zhongli replied. The two went on walks together often, so they got to know some of the locals quite well. “Are you two lovebirds enjoying the lantern rite so far?” A familiar voice asked from behind them. “Ah! Madame Ping! What a pleasant surprise!” Guizhong said, turning around to look at her. Zhongli gave her a warm smile. “How could I not be? I’m with the love of my life right now, after all.” He said, rubbing Guizhong’s hand with his own. Guizhong scoffed, and playfully jabbed him in the side with her elbow. “What?? Am I not allowed to talk about how lucky I am??” Zhongli chuckled. “Whatever, you dork.” She said, unable to hide her grin. Madame Ping let out a laugh, and said “Well I wouldn’t wanna bother you two any longer. Ill be taking my leave now.” “Very well then. Enjoy the festival.” Zhongli said with a wave. They said their goodbyes with Madame Ping, and continued their walk around the city. “The sun will be setting soon. I think we should start heading back.” Guizhong suggested. “Why such a rush? Staying out a while longer wont hurt. I know somewhere we could watch the sun set together, if you’d like.” Zhongli placed both of her hands in his as she contemplated his offer. After a short moment of silence, she looked at him, beaming, and pulled him into an embrace. Nuzzling her face into his shoulder, she said “I love you so much.” Zhongli grinned, and wrapped his arms around her. “I’ll take that as a yes?” He laughed. “Of course!! Lead the way!” She exclaimed, letting him go. Zhongli simply stood there, hands around her waist, looking into her eyes. “Right- lets go.” Zhongli stammered. The two of them walked up north of the city, up the hill past the gate. There, they had a beautiful look at the city, but also a bit of solitude. They made it right as the sun was setting, which made for romantic scenery. “Here we are. Sorry if its not much, I didn’t wanna stray too far from the city, since we’ll have to head back at some point.” Zhongli said. “Its beautiful. Thank you.” Guizhong spoke, turning to look at him. Despite the sunset being the reason they came there, the two only looked at each other. Time seemed to have froze for the hopelessly smitten lovers. There was nothing but each other in that moment. Zhongli had his arms around Guizhong’s waist as she had her arms over his shoulders. Zhongli leaned in, and gave her a tender kiss on the lips. They had stayed there much later than intended, just appreciating the other’s company. “The sun set long ago, dear. I think we should get back now.” Zhongli said, whilst his hands caressed her back. Guizhong sighed. “I suppose so..” They smiled at each other, and headed back to the city, ready for another day.
